Wouldn’t you think the broadcaster would have a proper sound feed?
I enjoyed it and thought it was pretty creative in some unusual ways… but it did drag a bit at times.
I always enjoy the Parade of Nations and critiquing the outfits.
Watched live on CBC and now have NBC’s delayed coverage on. No problems with sound or audio on either.
Great choice of athlete to be the final torch bearer and light the cauldron.
I enjoyed it but agree that sometimes it dragged on… and I agree with the CBC commentators that, knowing how dirty the water is, the emphasis on saving the earth… is a bit… hypocritical!!
How in the world could they pick Phelps over Beezie Madden?

Sound feed for the Canadian and USA broadcasting were great.
Anyone notice the 3 showjumpers carrying their flags? Shiek Ali Al-Thani for the Saudi Arabians, Abdelkebbir Ouddar for Morocco, and Jeroen Dubbeldam for the Netherlands.

It was a bit bipolar with artistic interpretation, then rappers, Giselle, other musicians they didn’t highlight well, then bam global warming. Just didn’t seem very cohesive. I liked their theme of inclusion and diversity and that they did bring up global warming.
They spent 1/12 of what was spent on London Opening Ceremonies, and
1/20th of what was spent at Beijing.
A hint of leaner Games which I hope will carry on in the future.
Hated the NBC coverage. I felt like I missed half the ceremony because of the commercials.
I feel the same with todays coverage. I am this close to buying a VPN so I can watch some other countries’ coverage.

In case anyone was wondering why the opening ceremony was on a tape delay instead of live, it was so the commentary could be tweaked to appeal to the little ladies out there who want “the ultimate reality show and mini-series wrapped into one.” How considerate. I swoon.
