Opening meet - the video

It took a while for me to find the time to put it together and run it past the Master and Huntsman for approval, but its here now - a slice of Exmoor

Wow, Nick. That is some wide open countryside there. Beautiful film footage, and photographs. Reminds me of the western US only…no cacti.

How do you deal with the helicopter hovering overhead? Just ignore the noise? Saw the one horse look up at one point, so even they notice. I used to HATE the commercial flights that passed over our country when I was a whip - it made listening to the hounds very difficult (we didn’t have radios)

Also noticed no red coats, and those 4 wheelers. ??? Why not and… why?? Ever curious.

Sensational ~ Thanks for sharing ~ Enjoyed it !!!

Sensational !!! Thank you !!!

Ah, it wasn’t filmed from a helicopter - my mate Sam had the camcorder and was filming from the opposite hillside  Because we have lots of steep valleys and coombes, you can get great footage if you are in the right place  The horse you saw looking was one of mine and he can spot a camera at half a mile, though I think he was actually watching hounds:lol:

So glad you like the countryside - no red coat because the huntsman doesn’t wear one since the ban, and the quad bikes are ridden by a couple of followers who don’t ride horses - they also help make it safer if hounds run across a road.

Wow, Nic and Sam!! That’s gorgeous footage! I absolutely love seeing those horses and hounds in that beautiful landscape. Thanks so much for posting!

Ah, I see. What a great viewing point your friend has – I swear it was every bit as good as a chopper view!

Sad about the lack of red coats - but I can see your point. No need if everyone in the field is already aware of who the Master is, and who they need to follow.

nic - if I lived there I’d be tempted to never step food inside. Stunning countryside.

Who is the artist and what is the name of the piece? I liked the lyrics.

I noticed several members wearing what looked like poppies. In the US, the only time we do that is for Memorial Day (Flanders Fields)

Is it a poppy they’re wearing or something else? Just curious.

I love the way you weaved the horn call into the video.

Great video!!!

Thanks all, so glad you enjoyed it  I’ll hope to get more footage this season but its hard to sacrifice a day on a horse

JSwan, we wear poppies for the 2 weeks before Remembrance Sunday, as you do - for us its the second Sunday in November - which is always set aside to remember those who died in the World Wars and more recent conflicts. Pretty much everyone wears them, not just out hunting, I’m glad to say.

The music is by a band called Show of Hands and its called Roots.
