Opinions: Better quality air-cooled x-country boots: P.E. or Majyk Equipe?

For those of you who have the P.E.s - where did you get them? Do any of the sources “across the pond” ship to the U.S.? They are definitely less pricey over there, and I’m only seeing Smartpak as a vendor here (unless I’m missing something?) FTR I don’t do Ebay, but have seen them there, too.

I bought mine directly from them, I’m in Canada though. Also would try eBay!

I don’t do eBay, unfortunately! I did contact a company in England though - they do ship to the U.S. :), and they’re having a sale right now: 39 pounds a pair

I’m thinking that even with the conversion and the shipping, that will still save me money over SmartPak; also, SmartPak’s shipping probably won’t be faster than getting them from "across the pond, at least not lately.

My mare is on vacation so I am in no particular hurry.

I haven’t used PE but I’ll always stand by my Majyk Equipes! Without them, my horse could have very easily broken his leg when we had a fall at a ditch, and they’ve held up quite nicley in the year I’ve had them! They’re not as white anymore and have a few manure stains (didn’t get cleaned during the winter) but they’re still standing strong!

Love my PEs. My trainer has mEs as well as they are useful if you need a boot to fit a wide range of horses, like a woof boot. I don’t think they are the same quality as the PEs. I also have PE open front and hinds, my favorite boots. Love love love them.

I bought the P.E.s (thanks to everyone for their input) and got them from Premier Equine in the UK (another PE!) - they were on sale, and even WITH shipping, I got 2 pairs for a total of $81  More than 50% less than Smartpak!

Very nice quality boots, they are lovely. We are going through a snow/ice/deep freeze in our area ATM, so I’m unable to get out to the barn until the end of the week to try them on her - but they look like they’ll fit - I got the mediums.

Which ones did you buy? The cheapest ones on the PE site for all four were $173.00+

https://www.premierequine.co.uk/air-cooled-original-eventing-boots-c2x21438636

My original calculation was off, however, looking at the site, the current exchange rate for 33.14 pounds sterling for one set of 2 boots is $43.53 US dollars. Therefore, $43.53 x 2 = $87.06 not including shipping. Shipping to the US is 20.45 pounds which equals $26.86 US, making the total price of 4 boots $107.92.

So my question remains, how did you score such a cheap price? Happy for you, just want to know how I can get it.

My bill/invoice said: $81.02

I ordered the Air Cooled Original Eventing Legwear: Front Medium: Unit: 42.49, Net: 27.62, Disc%: 35 Total: 27.62

The rear boots were a little more expensive since they were out of that type in medium; I ordered the AC Super Lite Eventing/Racing Legwear in medium instead (they look pretty much identical) which was: Unit: 49.16, Net: 31.95, Disc %: 35, Total: 31.95

The shipping was $21.45

Beyond that I don’t know what to tell you!

If you’re just looking at the price on the website and estimated shipping, you won’t get the “true” price you pay on checkout. When you check out with a US address, the VAT that PE incorporates into their listed prices gets removed. That’s probably how Dr Doolittle got a lower price than what you might expect just looking at your cart and estimating shipping…

PE’s rubbed my big mare. I switched to Thin Lines.

Thanks!
