Opinions on DHH crosses for jumping?

Well, yes . Your pasture (when growing) ideally should be able to feed your horses, if you manage it properly and dont fill it past capacity with horses.

Tennessee hay is shit! I sell semis of this hay to trainers there that are fed up with their quality. So again try againā€¦

Kate, I have finished the year as a USEF leading breeder. Second in the country. There is nothing horse related on which you could educate me. My horses look nothing like yours.

YOU are the one who needs to better educate yourself.

The pasture had nothing to begin with. And no I will never rely on pasture to feed a horse. I feed them exactly how we fed back home with the same hay. Plus most of the florida pastures are watermelon pastures anyways.

Not having pasture is not a huge deal, most boarding barns do not have ample grass for nutritional needs.

But clearly if your horses all look pretty crappy there is something wrong with your feeding program.

Iā€™m very happy for you being the second best USEF leading breeder. That does not speak as to the forage base and western alfalfa discussion. If you would like to have an actual discussion with me then I am more than willing to do so. Coth forum just seems silly if you are the second best leading breeder donā€™t you have better things to do? I have mondays off so enjoy catching up on all the things about me. Wish you continued success in your program. And if you ever want to actually see the difference in AZ alfalfa compared to others I am more than happy to send you a bail or bring one to you during my travels.

I thought you did, right after it came out. Something about another bad hiring job on your part and heads rolling. Then it poofed.

I would like to gently suggest that no one try to discuss nutrition or feeding programs and perpetuate the argument.

The condition of the horses says it all.

Engaging in a discussion with this person feeds the delusion that thereā€™s something to discuss.

There isnā€™t. Again, the condition of the horses says it all. Loudly and eloquently.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the bird is going to sh^& on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

How many cycles of starvation and return to condition has this poor animal had to endure in your ownership? She has been your public poster child on more than one occasion for how you have been wronged (again).
A 19 YR old mare even after having several babies should not be that hard to maintain, especially if not pregnant. Try harder.

Random place pickedā€¦
So weird, they did not get your memo that Arizona is the special place that has no ration balancers.

Yes condition says it all

who knew?! Not in any of our feed stores in Scottsdale or anything that any farm I was ever at has fed or doneā€¦including very high performance sport barns. Learn something knew every day lol

THIS!

I just donā€™t understand hauling alfalfa from Arizona to Florida.

I have a professional background in logistics and buying diesel on a National commercial scale for long haul trucking operations.

This is one of many aspects of this whole situation that MAKE.NO.SENSE.

Youā€™re right paying $600 a week for 3 hours a day of work 6 days a week is not enough. Yes there was an issue but it actually stemmed from where I rented. IE why no one, including the owner of the filly, has posted a darn thing. So all of you that seem to be all over things and calling for a beheading have literally no idea what happened or is happening. LOL But thatā€™s ok. I will relinquish my COTH reading for you all to have at it again. Iā€™ll check back in a week to make sure all you keyboard warriors are still there.

Then you clearly have no freaking idea the difference in Alfalfa from western alfalfa to the shit you buy in the midwest or east. Check any Florida hay store and they sell western alfalfa for $45 plus because itā€™s that much better. So yes buying a semi at a time is saving a ton of money for me because I get the better quality hay and not at feed store prices. But again, you would have to have knowledge of these things to understand that.

I just want to say, @CuriosoJorge, I admire your restraint. And more than that, what a wonderful place COTH is to have access to such experience and knowledge - if one actually wants to learn.

Like all ā€œbest practicesā€ (thinking of barefoot and forage + vit/min supp feeding programs, for example) it is only BEST if the horses thrive. No matter how much a person argues or believes in their methods, if the horses look like crap then something HAS TO CHANGE. Otherwise itā€™s neglect, plain and simple. If the owner has tried everything and the horses still look like crap - itā€™s time to move them on responsibly or euthanize. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Guys, youā€™re wasting your breath. I was an animal welfare investigator many, many years ago, and youā€™ll never make this sort of person admit, or even SEE the problem.
I am someone who does ship western alfalfa in for my horses. And I still feed grain and ration balancersā€¦

Is this one of the ones they commented were small that you felt was just an age related thing?

I am right that you did post something immediately and then deleted it and then say here that you have said nothing.
Thank you for confirming that.
