Opinions on Routinier?

What are your opinions on the Oldenburg stallion Routinier? I found a filly by him for sale, and I’m curious about what he passes to his offspring?

Also, What would you price a registered (awarded a premium at inspection), unstarted, 2 1/2 year old Routinier filly out of a Hanoverian mare?

Edited: Excuse me, she was out of a thoroughbred mare who was approved into the GOV Main Mare book.

I love him but I am biased, I have a 2.5 y/o gelding by him. I think he throws a great mind, rideability, temperment, movement, and def improves on the mare, esp with the neck, gaits, and hindend. Of course I am an ammy and not a professional breeder, etc.

My gelding went prem at his inspection for GOV and was 1.5 when I got him… granted he is out of a MMB TB mare and obviously cannot breed him and his asking price last year was $8500. Not sure if that helps at all but all I can say is that I love my Rudy baby and I met Rudy a couple of years ago at WEF and hung out with him in the stall and helped get his braids out, etc. He is just the most laid back, easy going horse ever.

We had a superb Routiner filly in 2007. Everyone that met her loved her and she was a bit of a superstar in the pasture! When people would visit they would be taken in by her. Very pretty with strong conformation and moved like a rubber ball. She is pictured on my profile.

She has a very sweet and kind personality. One of my favorite foals to date

Thanks guys!
KrazyTBMare- that did help! I think this filly may be a great deal… Convincing my parents she’s worth the investment is another story, haha.
How much would you say your horse’s value has gone up? Excuse me if that’s too personal!

I honestly dont know… hes now 2.5 and still a pasture puff. His dam is 17h and all of his half siblings on her side are at least 16.2+++ most getting to or above 17h even if the sire wasnt. She def throws her size so I am letting him grow and hang out. Hes around 16.1-2 right now and just went through the growing sideways spurt and is starting to get lanky again so I feel like hes about to go up again. With the market… oy… I honestly dont know.

I would think with the fact that shes a filly and shes premium would add value moreso than a gelding, ya know? If the market is like it was last year, I would say at least $8500 if not more. I see some that are yearlings listed for like $10-15k but I am not sure about their breeding (obviously better breeding is $$$).

I will tell you if she takes anything from her daddy, which trust me he stamps them well, you will just love her. They are just the sweetest, easy going, loveable things ever. And pretty too!

ok just two more… sorry!

this is 2 years 4 months… he hit a growth spurt like a week before this show… but this is his first show - arab show (nothing against arabs but those halter classes are crazy); first cold snap of the season, wind hollowing, mini’s in blankets, first show, first covered arena, first grand stands, I mean… so many firsts. We placed 3rd out of 6 for Model Hunter
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r186/krazytbmare1/Oct%2017%2009%20Arab%20Show/rexmodel1.jpg

then we went into a halter class with over 25 QHs and had to stand for like 10 mins… he was PERFECT. No one could believe it was his first time and how young he was.

Krazy, he is going to be a tall one!! Look at those legs in the most recent picture!

Krazy- your little guy is suck a cutie! he looks really gentle and friendly! that be such a nice horse to have, all of mine are divas. Thanks for all the advice! The horse is about half that price, selling due to money problems… I hope there isn’t any other reason.

I’ll try and keep you guys updated! Any more opinions would be great too.

I have been unofficially tracking premium foal stats for Oldenburg (GOV) for the past nine years, and Routinier has consistently been near the top of those rankings despite a few years where he was not promoted at all. He is still #2, although is now getting challenged hard by some of the hot young stallions.

Also, regarding temperament, etc. - a friend of mine rescued a 4 y/o stallion by Routinier last year. This horse had grown up in a field with a group of other horses, including mares and other colts/young stallions - all neglected, unhandled, and very malnourished. The Routinier stallion was out of a MMB Hanoverian mare with a very good pedigree, so we pulled out all stops to try to get the horse registered (no, the breeder had not bothered to register any of her foals, despite some of them being quite well bred). My friend brought the horse to an inspection site the day before the inspection and put him into a stall in a completely empty barn. He was a perfect angel the whole time - completely relaxed and “easy”, sweet and gentle and kind. She said he is that way about EVERYTHING - from mane pulling, to worming and vax, to the farrier, and he took the bit like an old pro the first time she put a bridle on him (2 days before his inspection). This horse had the kindest eye, and I was hugely impressed by his gentle, “golden retriever” demeanor. That is the Rubinstein/Rohdiamant coming through, and I have no doubt that he will be just as easy to start under saddle.

We are very happy to have Routinier again for this year’s Oldenburg auction. http://oldenburghorse.auctionanything.com

I have two Rudy kids… typical R line in their temperaments.

Rudy’s mother comes from a stellar Oldenburg mare family. I couldn’t find the info on Amy’s web site but I have read it somewhere.

DY, you can probably put your fingers on it.

It’s the highly regarded Cinderella line.

The late First Class is out of this mare line. He won the Bundechampionship. I’ll see if I can find that info fast. (I bred to him twice when he was imported and made quite a splash in the dressage shows here in CA.)

First Class is also the damsire of the newly approved Oldenburg stallion Sandro Class.

I looked at Routinier in Germany for a client prior to his licensing and was very impressed. Also, his mareline is impeccable, which IMHO gives him major advantage over many sires in the US. I like that he scored so well in the jumping part of his approval, showing versatility necessary for the US market.

You already have plenty of feedback on the foals to help guide you.

I certainly hope so! Hes as big as daddy is at 2.5! lol

Dance, the above comments about Rudy are exactly why I decided to breed my mare to him. Unfortunately for me, after 3 years, she would not get in foal. I took it as a sign, and decided to puchase my Rudy baby instead. If you are in a position to get this filly and have the means to get her started either by yourself or a professional, I would do it in a heartbeat. Id have a barn full of Rudy babies if I could. lol

Heike was very smart in buying Rudy because of the famous mother line.

More emphasis needs to be put on the girls in the family.

Ditto Oakstable!!

Thanks everyone! I already had my heart set on her before I got all these great reviews on Rudy babies. I would snatch her up in a heartbeat if I wasn’t only 16… so it basically all depends on my parents. We already have three horses, 2 of them well over 20 (one is 26- no way we could sell her, the other is 22 but in perfect health so we may sell her as a lesson horse). Fortunately, we have them on our property, and we could build another stall no problem. I’m trying to work up a good argument for when my mom gets home. I’ll show her what you guys said. Thanks again!

Love the Routiniers!

I have bred 2 foals by Routinier, and a 3rd on the way in April. I love, love, love this stallion. My friend has bred 3 Routinier foals with another on the way as well. I have known other Routiniers and all of them have STELLAR personalities. I have not yet started my mare, just from lack of time, but is super with everything new I have introduced to her. Same personality with Krazy’s boy.

As a broodmare, my Routinier mare has produced a fantastic colt by Sinatra Song.

I have met Rudy on numerous occasions, as his owner keeps her other stallion at same place my one horse is boarded. He has always been a gentleman!

Needless to say I huge, HUGE Routinier fan…

Lisa

Really, you would sell a 22 year old as a lesson horse. Hopefully your parents wouldn’t make you do that and you can still get the filly.

Doesn’t look like it’s going to happen… I eventually agreed with my mom about having too much on my plate this year. Here is the link to her ad if anyone was interested:
