Looking for a rectangular orthopedic bed for my senior dog, preferably with side bumpers … but I don’t want to spend $200 if I can help it! Any suggestions? 
You can find really nice crib mattresses for less than $200!
I think it’s nutso how expensive nice dog beds are 
IKEA has the best crib mattresses, they were out of the cheap ones so I got a $35.00 one, really nice, then you can put a blanket under and roll the sides, or some other ideas, for smaller than Doberman I bought a bed with sides from Target $60.00, it is pretty big.

No side bumpers but this bed from Pet Smart is the most favorite bed in my house - I bought one for my elderly guy a few years ago and have to keep buying more because my dogs fight over the “good” bed.
Not really cheap but they do hold up well if your dogs aren’t bed diggers or chewers.
I have the same bed as S1969 recommended (a smaller size) and my dog loves it.
I love that the cover zips off for washing.
Another option, if you have a cover you like, is to pick up a memory foam mattress pad and stuff it into the cover. I just snagged a queen for $30 from Kohls this weekend for our (people) bed. The king was the same price.
Wow! That really looks nice for the price! How firm is it? I can’t even count the number of beds I’ve picked up for my big dog that look nice and thick but compress down to nothing with just a little weight.
I definitely want orthopedic/memory foam, not a crib mattress; my boy is getting some advanced shoulder/elbow arthritis and has been on Cosequin for years and now on Rimadyl as needed. He loves the couch, so I want something cushy for the bedroom (I have to have the door shut to sleep…).
My dogs sleep in the bed with me. Why pay about $300 for an orthopedic dog bed when they can sleep with me?

They make coil spring (like a real grown up mattress) crib mattresses. You can even find them on craigslist, unused and cheap, when optimistic parents think the kid is going to sleep in the crib and the kid says nope :lol:
Very firm! And thick! My two dogs are 65-70 lbs. It’s weird because they ship it compressed and with all kinds of warnings on the package. I loved the price!

TJMax and their ilk, who are now also involved with Sierra Trading Post! I’ve found some amazing dog beds there over the years.
Most of the so called “orthopaedic” dog beds I’ve handled seemed to be particularly low-grade cheap foam, fwiw.
Did you try Wayfair? Taking over the world one sale at a time, but they do seem to sell everything, and if you read the 3* reviews they’re not toooo unbelievable.

These beds are very reasonably priced and hold up super well to my big dogs. 4 dogs in the 50-100 lb range
It is NOT a regular crib mattress, if I ever have to I will stack 2 of these, I shopped for a long time and for the money I can’t believe what I got.
