I know these aren’t the best clippers on the market, but I’m only clipping 1-2 horses, 1-2x a year. Just recently, the tongue has not been interested in holding the blades down, so they’re wildly going back and forth, but somehow secure enough to not fling off. Even when the blades are flush with the motor, when I turn them on, they snap back up enough to fly around. They do a TERRIBLE job clipping now. Anyone else run into this problem and able to fix them or should I concede to new clippers? That said, if I have Oster 10 blades, can I use them on other brand clippers that take a 10 blade? TIA
Did you take them apart to clean them?
I haven’t taken them apart yet; I probably should, but am nervous I’ll never be able to put them back together.
A5s are great clippers and will last forever. I’d get them repaired. I think you can mail them back to Oster and they’ll fix them for you.
When we showed horses and clipped more often, I had mine cleaned and serviced once each year —now I just do it as needed. Check with your vet --he/she may have a pick-up service that does the ones for the clinic.
