Any insight on this line? I don’t know the damline yet. This is a gelding that would be as a lower level dressage prospect.
I think Curlin himself is a great sport horse type. Big, solid, good brain, lots of bone, huge stride… maybe not as uphill as most would like, but that horse matured into a brick house. I’d be curious to give any horse by him a chance.
Thanks, I did look up pics and he’s handsome, but not super up hills, I agree. Any input on temperament would be great too.
His temperament has always been great. He was level headed when he was running and has matured into a big, lazy puppy dog these days.
I haven’t had the privilege of being around too many of his get first hand for any extended period of time, but I hear he passes on his good temperament. The babies I’ve seen seem very reasonable.
There have been a few Curlin kids at Finger Lakes - I agree with Texarkhana, they look promising and some of them are better-than-average movers. FLF has had a couple and have said in the listings they are very professional, it seems to be a common theme among them.
One thing I’ve noticed is that Smart Strike is best coming through the damside as a huge contributor of dressage type movement. I’ve seen it too many times in better-than-average moving TBs to be a coincidence, though sometimes having him up top seems to contribute good movement too.
I would look at him as an individual - let me guess, is he chestnut? Every dang Curlin horse I’ve met has been chestnut with chrome behind.
Thanks beowulf! Yes, this horse is a chestnut. Hoping I can get in contact with the seller, but it will be at least three weeks until I can go see him anyway. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t pursuing a bloodline known for craziness; I’ve never owned a TB before and already have a WB away at boot camp!
