I bought an ottb last November and want to register him in my name. I have his papers but it looks like there is a list of all the people that have owned him hand signed. How do I go about switching him to my name? Can I send the papers into the Jockey club? Or do I need to find an office?
Thanks!
Don’t send in the papers! Lol You mail back the papers if you want to “unregister” the horse. (Used to be the only way to make sure a horse you sold as “retired” would stay that way, but also ment they couldn’t have registered foals).
Having the previous owners signature and yours on the back of his papers makes it official as far as I know but you can also change it on the Jockey Club website, I think you have to make an account but it’s free. You log on and they have a section to change ownership. I’ll see if I can find the link.
This is the exact link but again for it to work you must be signed in.
Thanks!!!
Just to add…once you’ve created an account, go to “Registration”, then “Transfer Ownership”. Then everything you need is right there.
Congrats! What are you going to do with him?
Thanks! I got it done
My passion is dressage but I also want to do some jumping. I’m thinking of a little eventing.
