Our dog bolted Saturday afternoon. Has not returned home. Any ideas for what we can do? Update! Abby’s home! See#110

That’s wonderful!

I would, however, like to remind you that we were promised a picture

I’m so happy to hear the great update on Abby. Sounds like the antibiotics kicked in super fast and she’s feeling much better.

Enjoy your dinner!

Glad and grateful to hear Abby is doing better!
Enjoy your dinner! It was barn friends who introduced me to Mexican restaurants and I know they would all be rejoicing for Abby and you too.

The stress, cold and lack of food for so long would make her very susceptible to developing pneumonia or another illness. Hopefully that is all it was. Glad the meds are working and she is feeling better.

Finally, getting to it! Pictures that is. I’m good at procrastinating. (I’ve been so exhausted that adding in pictures has been something I’ve put off.)

Yah! I think I did it!

The pictures of Abby in a chair are from Monday when we took her in for her first vet visit. Given an ok but in reality she wasn’t.

The picture of her which shows mainly her face was the one we used in her flyer. The dog that was sighted in Hendersonville did not have the white blaze on its face.

I’ve included a picture of her with our other collie Nikki. She greets everyone with her frisbee! Nikki wants to play with Abby (chase each other) but we’ve curtailed that for awhile!

A year and a half ago, DH (Dan) and I had just sold our home in MI and were getting ready to retire in NC. I went to PetSmart and got two dog tags for our girls. I picked the red tag with the bone shape because they were distinctive and, of course, red looks good on black and white dogs.

I put her name on one side and our name and phone number on the other - in big letters! The guy that found her took a picture of her tag and it was, thankfully, the side with our phone number!

He called us immediately. It took us about ten minutes to locate the property which was gated because it is a game preserve owned by his uncle.

The uncle had seen Abby on his trail cams along with other dogs, deer, coyotes, and a bear which we saw on the saved footage.

She’d been using the flatbed trailer at night and traveling during the day. (And eating cat food left outside.) Her first sighting was miles from this spot. Which is why we were grilling bacon at that specific spot. I’m sure she was looking for us.

She came so quickly when DH got up the hill and in dog language told us how happy she was to be near us again. Little dog crying and crying! So were we as well as the couple who had called us.
They could see her jumping all over us!

Had dinner with them last nite and learned that they were due to visit the uncle on Saturday but decided to stop by on Sunday. So glad they made that decision!

Abby is doing really well now! Eating, getting her antibiotic every morning, getting lots of love. She’s getting her energy and her perky self back again.

It’s just going to be a challenge to get her weight back on. She is eating really well so that will help a lot!

Again, thanks so much for all of your support! Love you all!

Oh she is the sweetest cutest. What a sweetheart. Seeing her little face makes it even easier to imagine how you must have been going out of your mind with worry. Thank heavens you’ve got her safely back!

This brings up a good point for people who have dogs with stranger danger (like one of mine). It would probably be best to put the phone number on both sides of the tag, so someone could read it if they were able to take a picture from a distance and blow it up. My cheapie tags are only printed on one side, and I might look into changing that.
