Our First 8 :)

Please indulge me, I just came on here to celebrate getting my first ever 8 at a rated show. It was for our first halt (the second one got 7.5). This was also the first time we’ve gotten a 6.5 for our canter work. Granted the judge was clearly on the generous side, but we’ve been working hard and I was thrilled.
This is my OTTB’s and my second year doing dressage, still at Training level as it’s been a difficult (but enjoyable) transition as we were both learning together. I was hoping to end the year at First, but hopefully we will pick it up there early next year.

Congrats and WELL DONE! Sounds like you have some concrete validation that you can do the test, and do it well. What’s your homework for the winter? Perfecting this level or moving up?

edit: just noticed you’re in CA - so what’s your homework for Dec-Mar, seeing as you all don’t have winter

Haha! The past 2 years he’s gotten most of Dec off from training (just some ground work and trails) for freshening, but this year he got a lot of time off in the summer due to smoke so we’ll keeping working. The main HW is just to become more consistent with the connection and improve roundness. Also getting him a bit sharper off the leg.
Our winter show series starts end of January, and I am hoping to be ready for First. 🤞🤞🤞

Oops, posted too early.

Super! Congrats! That first halt is a great opportunity to come in bold and make a good first impression. Good going!

Congrats!!!

Woohoo, TC! Great job. Proud of you!! My halt is the worst part of my test, though I have been getting slightly better. At times we still look like we amble up to the halt like a drunken sailor. :o

Congrats!!!

Congrats! Doing a happy dance for you

Good job!! Nothing like seeing your hard work paying off!

Thanks all! My husband pretended to be excited but had no idea what I was talking about so I needed to share with others who would understand!
