my wife is going to the LONGINES FEI JUMPING WORLD CUP™ LAS VEGAS, she has two outifts picked out and she is showing three days, she is hoping her 2 outfits will last, can you give me some ideas I get quick for her to show in? I would like to buy her an outfit but it needs to be readily available and going to show in the the rusty stirrups division. I would love to hear your ideas.
sorry switch out good to going, autocorrect apparently changed that somehow
Are you saying she is competing in the Longines World Cup? The invitational international multi-location high stakes derby? I would think by the time you are competing at that level, you’d have your gear sorted out? Or is she competing in something running concurrent with the Longines?
The first step when planning horse show gear is to look at the regulations for the class you are showing in, does it require a jacket or can you show in a shirt? Are there rules on color? Typically hunter classes are more formal than some jumper classes.
If someone is just reentering showing, they’d probably have only one or two jackets, a good pair of boots, gloves, and helmet, and then swap out clean shirts and breeches each day.
breeches, a shirt and a jacket. all stuff I probably bought her, but if some one were to send me links like say from smartpak that would be awesome. sorry I just dont know what she should be wearing at this level
Do they wear jackets in Longines or just shirts? I’m possibly conflating with Longines Nations Cup and thinking there might be national colors involved?
Because show jumping is so technical I think people prioritize athletic performance in their clothes. You want the boots and breeches and gloves that potentially optimize your sticky seat and comfort, and the helmet that feels most weightless but also has excellent safety ratings. People get quite specific about what works for them. I wouldn’t be out buying random riding clothes for someone going into a big competition.
The parameters for what you can wear in English sport horse disciplines are so narrow there’s not much room for a “dream outfit.”
from what I know she needs some tan breeches and a white shirt to go under her mesh show coat, what is the correct shirt and pants for her to wear during the show?
This is kind of obviously a bot/spam/not a sincere post. Next thing you know “house” is going to need us to buy an Amazon gift card and send him the codes so he can unlock our “locked” bank accounts.
The best bet in this case is to take her shopping at the show vendors. The odds of getting the right size and brand are almost 0 when starting from this vague of a point. I’m a Tailored Sportsman devotee (midrise SIDE ZIP longs!) but plenty of people prefer Samshield or Struck or whatever. Same with shirts - clothing is so individual.
Take her shopping in person and buy her what she wants - or just let her fill an online cart and hand the card over. Trying to order online based on random people’s suggestions is not likely to be successful- and that doesn’t even account for sizing. The same person can wear a 22 and a 30, an XS or a L, depending on brand!
On the very unlikely chance that this is real (because I don’t know who shows at recognized shows in any equestrian discipline who only owns two pairs of breeches and shirts) she almost definitely has brands and styles she prefers. Your best bet is just to get her a gift certificate for one of them, or if you want to get actual clothes, to look and see what brands and sizes she has and get more of that. If she wears tan breeches she likely does hunters and there’s not much room for creativity there.
With only 2 weeks to the show it is challenging for you to find these items via on line. Take her to the local tack store or take her to the vendors fair at the venue. The Las Vegas National Horse Show is a big deal and there will be every vendor under the sun there.
because the fit or breeches is so specific, go to the closet and look at the tags if they are still present, other than that, take her on a road trip to the tack store
I think a reputable poster got hacked. Prior posts were coherent and sounded like a horse person. This message style and content is totally incongruent.
Yes I looked up the poster before I responded and the previous posts sounded like a real horse person. So I don’t know exactly what’s going on but responded as seriously and honestly.
I did just Google the Last Vegas Longines and it appears to be running concurrently with a USHJA show starting at 2 feet, so it’s quite possible that’s what OP wife is in.
I think the suggestion to go shopping at the vendor booths is good. She will be able to see a wide range of brands. Fit is really tricky for many of us adult women since the cut and sizing of much hunter jumper gear is clearly aimed at teens. So this will be a great chance to compare brands and fits
Sorry I just dont know anything about what to wear while jumping, ask me about driving multipuls and I can answer probably as well if not better than anyone, jumper fashion no so much.
I think jumper fashion is really boring compared to driving, much less room for fun even in the turnout of the horse. And more technical and the fit really matters. And no person loves how they look in tan breeches
I think so too. This poster previously was an experienced horse person, female, and wrote in coherent English. Now the poster knows next to nothing about horses (well, I mean, aside from “driving multipuls”), is male, and can’t make it through a sentence without misspelling a word. And the beloved wife seems to vacillate between doing the hunters and jumpers. But she only owns two pairs of pants As recently as 3 days ago “house” was capable of stringing words together into a sentence and now can’t. And “house” shows draft horses in driving so why is she going to the “LONGINES FEI JUMPING WORLD CUP™ LAS VEGAS” to show “rusty stirrups.” By her prior posts, the real “house” is a more than capable, experienced horsewoman who doesn’t need help figuring out what to wear at a horse show. At least, not like this. The whole thing is… very suspicious and I would be careful if “house” backchannels you etc.
Yes but you know what class is not offered? “Rusty Stirrups.” And, neither is “Rusty Stirrup.” Here’s the prize list…
Maybe “house” left her account logged in and some kid is goofing around or something? But I think it’s pretty clear the posts today are not the person usually behind the “house” account. And they do not read like an adult native English speaker who lives on a farm and therefore would be expected to be SOMEWHAT horsey and not completely clueless.
