Race 6 at Churchill had two horses bumping together & both lost their jocks.
The outrider, Greg Blasi, did an amazing job of snagging both of them & pulling them up.
Only found the video link on Twitter, but I’m sure it’s posted elsewhere as well.

I loved that! Thanks!
Amazing!
I would love to see a close up of that. I wonder if he just dropped the reins on the pony’s neck for the second catch, or switched rein hands?
I thought I saw him switch the rein to the hand that already had the first catch, to get the second.
Just incredible, and what a good pony! Thanks for sharing that.
It’s on FB, but public so everyone should be able to see it.
A little better/clearer video https://www.facebook.com/572753250/posts/pfbid02shs1e8S5rpLneh7PHvRWgTbBxGZLvYtRpeJXJH8DC586hECSqbZNni4kgk3VY7v3l/?startTimeMs=10000&mibextid=v7YzmG
Awesome!
& Kudos to the outrider on the gray, getting there so Blasi could hand off one of the truants!
Well done!
Both outriders did a great job.
Blasi was the outrider that Rich Strike tried to savage after the Derby.
His Guardian Angel needs Hazard Pay!
Geeze I want that Palomino. Had one as a teenager, my dream horse, not to mention useful! I wonder if it would adjust to catching Standardbreds?
Being an outrider looks like a fun job doesn’t it? Except for the odd savaging by a jacked up colt…
I guess it would depend on the track you’re at. In Ontario it would be like a special slice of hell in late fall and winter.
ETA that would be STB tracks only, TBs don’t run here in the winter, though October can be pretty unpleasant.
