Ovation Moorland boots?

So, please excuse me because its been a little bit and my oh my have things changed lol Looking for opinions/reviews on the Ovation Moorland boots! I’m on the market for a general schooling boot, but leaning towards something I can run around in after. Anyone have these boots? What do you love about them? What would you change if you could?

Returning to riding with a child and a husband means my budget has significantly gone down. I’m looking to stay under $250 and I’m open to any suggestions that anyone might be able to offer

I also noticed these and would love to hear some COTH reviews on them. I can tell you that I’ve ridden in my Dublin river boots many times, and it is great to be able to use them for other things as well as riding. It is a pretty budget-friendly option.

I did utilize the search function but didn’t want to bump up some super old threads with members that may no longer be active. There is very little information available for them on the sites that offer them so I’m reaalllly reaaaalllly hoping a few people surface  Worst case scenario, I’ll just order them later this week & when they come in I’ll post a review with pics.

The dublin river’s are definitely on my radar, I’ve heard very good things about them. I just want to hear a yay or nay before I switch my focus to other boots. I just really really like the look of the moorlands. Hows the fit with the rivers? I’m thinking I may need a tiny bit more wiggle room in the toe box area than your average individual.

I love my Dublins! Have had them for 3 years now. I’ve worn them everywhere - work (I worked as an equine tech for 2yrs and now work at a TB breeding farm), out (I get a ton of compliments on them - even in the grocery store :p), working sales at Keeneland, in the snow, in the rain and walking water hazards for combined driving (with water half way up my calf and my feet still stayed dry) I’m looking at replacing them before this winter with yet another pair of Dublins.

IMO the Dublin footbeds are roomy, even with thick wool socks. I cannot wear tight shoes anymore, and I never feel restricted in these. I have Dublin jod boots also, and the river boots feel roomier.

I really like the look of the Moorlands, too, because they have a traditional riding boot look. I believe they’re new, so CoTHers may not have had a chance to try them yet. Would you like to be our guinea pig?

I thought I’d seen that name recently. Draftmare posts in the dressage forum, which is where I first saw her mention them.

Inclined, thank you - I, too, cannot wear tight shoes anymore. My feet have spread quite a bit and it makes finding shoes that fit correctly quite the chore. I think I’m drawn to the moorlands for the exact reason you stated … they just look “traditional”.

I’m fairly confident that the Dublin Rivers would work out for me at this point. I think I’m going to give it until Friday. Hopefully someone will pop up prior to then. On Saturday I will place the order for the Moorlands. Worst case scenario … they don’t work for me and I will switch them out for the river boots. Thank you everyone  I will keep you updated!!

I have a pair of the Moorlands and really like them for a work/ride boot - it’s nice to not have to change shoes when I’m just going out for a hack or am limited on time.

They are roomy in the foot/toe area. I can easily put a pair of thick socks on for cooler weather. The soles are nice and grippy, too - rugged.

So far the waterproofing has held up well, and we had 5 days of rain last week. We still have the mud. I hose these off after I get done with chores and my feet are still dry.

Nice boot especially for the price.

I have two pairs of these (it’s wet here!) because after I bought the first pair, I wanted another, they are that nice for the money. Agreed, they are roomy and they come up higher on the calf (I’m tall) than some other multi-use boots I’ve had. Mine are somewhat gappy around the top but it doesn’t bother me for schooling or hacking out. Plenty of room for warm socks and orthotics if you need them. Very pleased with how they’ve worked out–I have not slogged though the real wet yet while wearing them but they’ve done fine with random splashings while rinsing off a horse. I have a stiff ankle from an old break and the grippy bottom is just right for helping me keep my foot stable in stirrup without feeling unsafe.

I really appreciate the feedback!! A lot. I’m going to order them! Did you have to size up or size down? Or was the fit fine with your normal size?

I ordered my normal size and they are fine. The seem to be designed to be roomy. The toe is fairly round, which MY toes like. Lots of places seem to offer pretty good returns if something doesn’t fit, I’d just make sure to pick one of those retailers. Priced pretty much the same anywhere. You’ll have to post whether you like them or not!

Okay so I didn’t leave everyone hanging. Today I called around and not one single shop had the moorlands in stock (will order off stateline most likely). After trying on the rivers @ dover I ended up getting a pair of those too. The Dublin River Boots fit my odd foot PERFECTLY out of the box. Amazing. I couldn’t leave them behind. So to those of you that recommended them, THANK YOUx100.

At the same time, also tried on the Middleburg All Weather Tall boot. Honestly had never heard of them prior to walking into the store. I was less than impressed. Looked fairly cheap once on, price tag was also cheaper so I guess they get a pass for that. Foot bed was awful for my high arch, honestly just uncomfortable in general. I generally don’t expect a boot to wow me out of the box because of my weird, needy feet … but honestly I’d be confident in saying that even someone with normal feet would be disappointed.

I’ll be back when the moorlands arrive. Again, thank you everyone

Thanks for the update! I have high arches, too, and the Dublin footbed in the River boots, and their Venturer jodhpur boots are the most comfortable I’ve found- plus the roomy toe boxes. (I started out with Ariats - paddock boots and Terrain - but they hurt.) I’m looking forward to hearing your comparison of the River and Moorland.

Does anyone know where you can buy these in the larger/ mens sizes in the US? They come in up to a 45 but I can’t find a retailer for them.

Snowrider, are you looking for the ovation moorlands or the dublin river boots? I’d be happy to look around for you!

The Moorlands, the River boots don’t come in men’s do they?

Snowrider you are correct, I’m not seeing mens river boots. Kind of a bummer. Sheplers looks like they carry the moorlands in mens sizing * let me know if you order a pair!

Thank you! I’d never heard of Sheplers.

No problem! I ordered from them a couple years ago, customer service was good. I had to exchange for a different size ariat boot and the process was painless. The sheplers out here (colorado ) has been rebranded under boot barn. So now, same company

bumping this one back up - how high does this boot come?
is it just under the knee like a normal tall boot? I can’t find pics with someone wearing them anywhere!
