Ovation Riding Apparel, Specifically Boots- Your Experience Or Paddock Boot Recs.

Hi There,

Does anyone have or had Ovation boots?

I am looking at ordering the Ovation Aeros Jod paddock boot. They seem reasonably priced. I just want a decent quality pair of boots that will last several years.

My last pair of paddock boots I bought in Australia for $79 in 2007, so they have lasted a long time for the price that I paid, IMO. The brand isn’'t available in the USA and it is too expensive to have them posted to the US.

If you haven’t tried Ovation, can you recommend a good quality paddock boot? My requirements are leather, prefer rubber sole, no zips, elastic sides.

TIA

I have Ovation field boots. I’ve had them about 4 months, ride in them several times a week. Overall they are decent for the price. The leather is fine, not super nice but not bad for the pricepoint. They are actually quite comfortable.

I have a pair of lace up Tred steps that I like a lot.

Thanks for the feed back.

I want them mainly for riding.

Thanks for the feed back. I strictly want elastic sides with no zip or lace ups. I want something I can slip on easily to go riding. I’ll check out the brand high flyer.

I actually bought the Ovation Aeros jod boot and ended up returning them. I bought them for wearing to work (I am an equine vet tech) and the occasional ride, but they just did not have enough support. They seemed like a decent boot for the price in the looks department, but if you were going to wear them for any length of time, I would suggest going up a size and using an insole.

I bought Ovation Aeros because they came in my larger size and were a good price. In less than a month, the heels were blown out. Literally, the sides of the heels split open where the air pockets were.

I am still looking for a paddock boot that fits me (women’s 11W, European 43) that I can wear while teaching lessons and riding. The pair I am wearing is about to fall apart after years of good use.

I have a pair of Ovation pull on field boots. I only ride in them, and quite like them. They have lasted several seasons, and as Training Cupid said, they are pretty good for the price. The leather is not buttery soft, but it is good quality.

I have a pair of Ariat paddocks as well, they are the zipper style, but they are quite comfy. Don’t know if they make an elastic only version, though. The leather is softer than my Ovation tall boots, but seems to be holding up well to some pretty harsh treatment.

I’ve not had any problems with comfort or support in either brand, but I don’t really wear my riding boots for anything but riding/horse related chores. I’m sure standing around in them all day would be uncomfortable, but so is riding in sneakers…

Blunstones sounds like what you want. They can be pricey ($120ish last I checked), but they last forever and are crazy comfortable.

ETA: The Blunnies would probably work for you too, FlyingColors. They’re great.
