Ovation vs Pessoa?

Pessoa has been mentioned to me a few times for my wide and flat draft cross. I had finally decided to pull the trigger on a Pessoa jump saddle that I found for a really good deal, but then was alerted that Ovation is made in the same factory as Pessoa with many of the same features for less. There is one currently on Tack of the Day for $800 in my seat size.

How does the quality of the Pessoa saddles compare to the quality of the Ovation saddles? How is the overall quality of Pessoa and Ovation in general? I have had plenty of other Ovation products, and have always been happy with them.

Pessoa and Ovation are indeed built in the same factory. They share the same trees.

I’d classify the differences like the changes between grade a and b lumber - Pessoa/A will have the nicer, less artifacted leathers, with nicer finish work. The Ovation/B will have lovely leather, but maybe more natural striations found on the cow. The finish work will be quality, but maybe not as fancy.

Ovation overall is a nice, utilitarian brand that is safe and thoughtfully designed, if sometimes lacking in the “sparkle”. I’ve been pleased with all of mine (bridles, apparel, helmets, footwear).
