My sister has a draft cross, saddle has LONG flaps and ordinary dressage pads are a touch small. Anyone know of a source for larger pads that don’t cost a fortune?? Google searches are unhelpful and shops don’t seem to list measurements. TIA!
Ogilvy and Le Mieux are fairly deep. They list dimensions on their websites. They are not super cheap but honestly I am happy having one or two really functional pads rather than a rat’s nest best of NQR cheap pads
Tolkat makes an oversize pad that should work. It is huge.
Ogilvy will do custom sizes too.
Ogilvy in most tack stores comes in one size. Ogilvy online allows a myriad of options, some of which include a slightly larger saddle pad size.
In my experience, delivery has happened within 8 weeks or so, though that was with custom binding, colours etc.
I find my Eskadron pads to be deeper than my LeMieux pads FWIW.
PRI makes a large pad, the weatherbeeta ones are fairly deep, as are lemieux.
I find the Dover dressage pads oversized, and pretty nice.
You can buy plain Mattes pads from Hufglocken in Australia in XL size. They frequently do 20% off sales that apply to their custom pads and free shipping on >$150, so you can get 3-4 pads at a pretty good price. The cotton ones are thinner than the sheen, FYI. It does take a couple months to get them since they’re custom, but it’s worth it, IMO.
Another person already said this but Dover makes a gigantic saddle pad. The one I saw was grey with pink trim. It’s gorgeous but huge. Probably perfect!
Thanks, all! I have ordered a PRI pad, navy with bergundy trim. Should look good on her bay!
In the future and for others, Dover’s line of dressage pads are huge. They have a very deep drop. I have a few of these, they are a bit stiff at first but after a few washes are very soft and pliable. I actually am sitting on a white one right now (washed it forever ago, never brought it back to the barn, and now it’s neatly folded on my chair as a chair cushion).

Dover also provides the measurements- most are 22" drop while average is 18-20". The problem with their pads is the exchange and shipping to Canada!
I have a white Roma one that seems huge. I’ll see you that puppy cheap! But I am in the US. PM me if you are interested and I’ll send you pictures, measurements and the rest.
Thanks so much, MVP, but I wanted a new one for my sister’s birthday present.
Aww… yer a good egg. Get her the biggest and the best, then!
I’m also in Canada and it was suggested to me to look at a PRI pad. Where did you end up ordering from? I couldn’t find them anywhere.
look on line. lots of availability. https://www.ebay.ca/b/PRI-Dressage-English-Horse-Saddle-Pads/183377/bn_77099009
I bought directly from PRI- I find the shipping and import duties on Ebay these days to be as much as the item costs!
