Oversized anatomic bridles - what brands in WB size?

Hi Friends,

Jumbo beast needs a new hunter appropriate bridle. I’ve been having a heck of a time finding oversized (true warmblood sized) anything locally in stock. Not adverse to used but there aren’t any!

I adore the Schokemohle bridles but the brown ones only come in horse sized. Looking for something with a soft mono crown and interchangeable nose band (hunter snaffle with an option to buy figure 8 would be perfect!). Big head so wider nose band would be beautiful.

The Dy’on seem to come in oversize (some models) with padded crowns (some) but no one has any in stock. I would rather not wait months. Are there any other brands/makes I should consider? Budget is what it needs to be - cheapo is fine if it fits/is a good value and I’m willing to spend :eek: if needed/it is worth it.

Get measurements. W/S or O/S doesn’t mean anything as it varies significantly from brand to brand. IME the biggest issue with the big headed horses is the browband - they tend to need 18"+ browband which not many brands that are O/S supply.

Vespucci, Stubben, Kieffer, and Passier all will definitely have what you need. Additionally, I really liked my Eponia bridle… good quality for the price and very nice/anatomic:

Jeffries has a, “Extra Full” size. Headpiece 29.5" overall and 14.5" between split, browband 17.5", Cheek pieces 10", nose section ring-to-ring 18.5", noseband back padding buckle to buckle 4.5", cheek strap 10.5", cheek strap back padding 9.5".

and I thought they had a Grackle (figure 8) but I can;t see it now. Maybe I was mistaken. I bet they’d make you one, though. They are very accommodating.

I just got a size 4 CWD anatomic bridle for my horse. His size 3 was getting too small in the crown and browband and the cheeks, especially with smaller ringed bits. The new one is plenty big. The noseband can be changed out. They do make a wide hunter noseband. You might need to order that separately and get the figure 8 on the bridle, because I think the “hunter” bridle doesn’t have the same crown. But they may be able to customize some. I was able to order this one without fancy stitching through my rep.

Where are you finding oversized D’yon hunter bridles? I looked at D’yon having heard these exist (also because sometimes they come with reins and I also need oversized reins), but I didn’t find any.

Running Fox can order the over sized and apparently has some in stock. I haven’t seen them yet but am hoping to at the Royal. Only some models are available in oversize.

My husband’s draft cross wears an Ovation warmblood/oversize. It has a monocrown and is very decent for the price.

Antares also makes an oversize and they have a new wide noseband bridle that came out this year. Leather is absolutely gorgeous!
