PA Derby and Cotillion

Big day for racing in the Mid-Atlantic between PARX and Laurel.

PA Derby not a sure thing for the chalk.

As for the Cotillion, any hopes of betting against Songbird seems improbable but the following article to the link has some suggestions.

Songbird… I think she’s got some decent competition but I still think she’ll win

Here is how the Cotillion lines up.

Is Songbird beatable and if so, Cathryn Sophia or Carina Mia or one of the longer odds on the board?

Should be a good race. Hopefully a race and not another paid workout for horse and Mike S??

John Servis has a plan. The problem is he is not giving it away.

I’ll bet his plan is to run for either place or show no matter what.

As far as the PA Derby, I agree with following article. Nyquist is not the good bet. After a couple of sub-par races, I don’t think, even with his excellent workouts, that he is on the improve.

I saw that this morning… Neener, neener, neener… I know what I’m going to do but not say anything about it

PA Derby… hummm… maybe Nyquist isn’t thrilling me but Cupid not so much or Exaggerator or Gun Runner either. IMO, no real standout favorite. I’d probably have to cogitate and come up with a box bet or some other exotic over a single horse.

Songbird was certainly not beatable today. She made all the others look cheap. And they’re not . . .

Off to the Distaff with her, and Mr. Porter said they would consider running against males next year. I almost wish they would take a crack at the Classic this year.

The PA Derby created more questions than it answered. The 3yo colts are a mess.

IMO Songbird the best 3 yr old in 2016. She’s grown up, she’s consistent and she doesn’t seem to have to work very hard. Breeders cup day will be interesting for her.
3 yr old colts a jumbled mess. I’m thinking the only place we will see Nyquist is in the breeding shed.

Shammy… how would you compare Songbird to Zenyatta???

Maybe a plan but it sure didn’t work :frowning:

TVG said one of the signs of a great horse is that they make good horses look cheap and she surely does and Cathryn Sophia and Carina Mia are nice fillies just not in Songbird’s class. Not sure who’s class she’s in.

3year old colts… I agree, they are a mess :frowning:

BC Classic… as much as I am not fond of him, California Chrome at the moment appears to be the class of the field.

If I was deciding, at this point, I’d be aiming Beholder for the BC Distaff and see how she matches up against Songbird
