I show in the jumper ring (1.0m at A shows) and I currently show in a black pad. However, I saw someone say that a white pad should be used on classic days? Is this true? I have a grey horse and I feel like white pads make either her or the pad look dirtier lol. Also, would a navy (not shiny) pad be acceptable, or should I just stick to black? TIA!
The only changes in the USEF rule book between regular, proper, and formal attire in the Jumper ring pertain to the riders attire, nothing about saddle pads. You’re fine with black or navy.
Of course if you are riding on a team you’ll have whatever color pad you use dictated by the chef d’equipe.
In videos of the Jumper classes at WEF there are more people riding with dark pads than there are with white, in both USEF and FEI classes.
Hunters may be different, I don’t know. I’m sure it’s in the rule book.
You can show in whatever color pad you would like. Even on classic day.
