Paddock boots slipping off heel

I bought some new paddock boots a couple months ago - Kavalkades - I love them!, but because I had to get a larger size to accommodate my ghastly feet (huge bunions, hammertoes, ugh), once they broke in they started slipping off my heels when I ride; I have small heels and ankles, but need a bigger boot because of the footbed issue.

I ride in half chaps, which though they are snug and well fitting don’t seem to help with the problem – neither do thick socks!

Needless to say this is very annoying, and I have to stop and push my heel into the stirrup multiple times to slide them back onto my foot.

Does anybody have any “hacks” for this situation? Will I have to just buy another pair of paddock boots, which I hate to do since I love these and they were on the pricey side?

First world problems, of course, but sigh.

Could something like this maybe help, to take of some of the excess room in the heel?

What a great idea, thank you!

Naturally, I literally just placed an Amazon order, and could’ve added this to it :woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming:
