Paddy Young Jump Jockey

Has anyone heard anything about Paddy Young since his fall in May of 2017? His horse, King’s Apollo, fell over a jump in the Radnor Hunt Cup and a trailing horse tried to clear both Young and his horse but could not. According to the Daily Racing Form, Young fractured his C-7 vertebrae and had a brain injury, but his doctors were hopeful that he would “…make a full recovery.”

I can’t find any recent information and I fear that no news in bad news.

 he is still training.

Paddy and his wife co-trainer Leslie are friends of mine. It’s been a long tough road for both of them. But Paddy is doing pretty good. He’s been back working with the horses and getting on some.

Thanks for asking.

Surprised you missed the update that he was in the Real Rider Cup at Plantation Field! https://www.facebook.com/TheRealRiderCup/

Thanks for the update!

I do have to say I’m not surprised at all that I missed that since I really had to search those posts to find him. How did you catch that? It didn’t turn up in the Google search I did before.

I guess I follow eventing and steeplechase news in general, because between Eventing Nation, National Steeplechase news, etc it came up a couple times! The steeplechase media (such as it is) made mention of it. I’ve also spotted him at races since last November.

Well that is very good news. I hope he makes his goal of winning 200 races!

He’s still not 100 percent. Tbi is a tricky thing. I felt like I took 18 to 24 months myself but my brother in law still struggles 3+years out (from similar racing injuries.) Paddy has rather hurried things IMO.
He’s/they’re extraordinary horsemen and they have the entire worldwide tb industry behind them.
