Pads for breast and butt bars in trailers

I bought a secondhand straight haul trailer that has breast and butt bars covered in black foam and what looks like electrical tape. When I viewed the trailer, the seller had much puffier covers that she took off after the sale. I assumed these would be easy to replace, but in fact I’m not finding an obvious source on-line. I’ve found lots of suggestions for home-made padding like pipe insulation and duct tape, but I"m after something manufactured with a vinyl or fabric cover and padding that slips on. Any ideas where I could find?

I bought from these people

Maybe try to contact the trailer’s maker or the closest dealer?

PS… what a shabby thing for the seller to do!

You’re probably looking for these breast pads for the trailer. This same place that helped me find replacement keys for my new to me trailer. The previous owner lost her keys.

I have bought a few things from Hawk. Nice to deal with. My trailer company is out of business. The Hawk products are nice quality.

If you even sew a little bit, these are easy to make --but watch your costs --by the time you buy foam and (Marine weight) vinyl, you maybe a pretty close to what you can buy them for.

Ditto getting them from Hawk, I replaced mine last year, they’re nice and cushy just like the originals.

I contacted a local upholster, described what I needed and gave them dimensions and ask them to make them out of marine grade vinyl. Turned out perfect.

I’ve got the ones caper posted. Cheap enough and easy enough to clean.

Look for someone who does boat upholstery–they have the materials and wherewithall to do what you want.

Thanks! That gives me lots of ideas!

If you still need help, I made my own for an added pony breast bar in our trailer and am quite pleased with the results. Much cheaper than anything I could find online!
