Pair carts?

Here is a current cart with pole:

Here’s another one!

I just don’t know about these… doesn’t look very safe to me. But I don’t know anything about driving a pair. This cart in particular with the single (and very high) seat… really makes it look off balace (with 2 horses anyway).

Am I off base on this thought?

comments on the older cart you just posted…

I don’t see the seat as particularly high. I think it is a little weird how the little seat is balanced on those wide axles and how the seat actually appears to be built on the axles, rather than on a box above. That makes the seat seem high and off-kilter in a Dr. Seus sort of way.

I like brakes when I drive a pair. Personal thing -but I am not alone in that. That doesn’t have brakes.

Whenever I use a forecart (that only has two wheels), and a team -i find that it is bouncy and unbalanced. That would be a big concern for me with this. With a green pair, that can bother them -with a “done-it-all” pair, it may be no issue but the driver would still bounce around probably.

It not only has no brakes, it is very light. Again, may not be a big issue but with a green team -maybe.

The wood also looks kind of older, checking for rot/dry rot would be high on the list before buying. Also how tight are the axles?

One off designs that aren’t repeated a lot are something I generally stay away from. There is usually a reason why only a few were made…
