Pairs of horses' names that go together

Way back when I had 2 horses, one was a conformation horse and the other was a better jumper but (to be charitable), was not good looking. I thought of naming them:

“Pretty Is” and “Pretty Does.”

But I thought that the good looking horse might be insulted that I thought he was not a very good jumper and my great jumper who was plain might think I did not love him because he was not handsome.

I currently have a horse named “Two If By C”. My next horse was going to be “One If By Land”, but my new young horse came with a registered name.

What got me thinking about this is a horse who is on the jumping order for the pre greens named “I C London”.

Got me wondering if we were going to see “I C France” later in the jump order.

One of the girls at a barn I was at had “Playlist” and “Playbook.” She named them both.

Years ago, Joey Darby had a horse of mine in the pre-greens. It was at the same time as he had one called “Good Things” so he named mine “Small Package”

Slightly different genre, but years ago, we had a pony named Caesar and a horse named Duncan - both Shakespearean kings. They came with the names but we loved it how it worked out

I seem to recall somebody having their jr hunters named Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barrow? I was a pony rider so it was awhile ago.

Cute. “Small Package” made me laugh.

Same vein, but I have a Fig and a Newton , not registered names though.

One rider that used to show on my local circuit had 2 hunters, named Priority and Protege. Both very similar looking bay geldings.

I think people who have teams of horses that they drive often have paired names. I know of a Frick and Frack team, and a team names Stop and Go!

This is a great thread! Good topic!

We had a gelding named “Starlight” and another named Star that I referred to as “Starbright” and I desperately wanted one to come in with the “Fuerst” bloodline to call “Fuerst Star”, simply as an inside joke for myself.

We have a Spot and Not team… of goats. I like paired names – I think it’s cute. I also knew a Frick and Frack, but dogs.

Someday I’ll have a pair of mares named Mairsie Doats and Lambsie Divey.

oh and when I was riding for the Youngs in the 90’s we had “Hertz” and “Not Exactly”

Some humorous Adults from the Charleston area did indeed name two of their hunters I C London and I C France. I think it is awesome!!!

There was a girl when I was a kid who had Whopper, Whopper Topper and Another Whopper. (her Dad owned a Burger King)

We have had quite a few over the years…

Laverne and Shirley
Colt, Smith, and Wesson
Mike and Ike
Chocolate and Chip
Kit Kat and Snickers
Mocha and Latte
Norma Jean and Loretta

My mother in law has had many horses over the years so I’m sure there are many more. All the horses above were bought together and named accordingly.

Dill and Pickle. Two ponies. Hehehe

I knew a frick and frack too

Years ago, Marley Goodman had a pair of pre-greens named “All That” and “And Then Some.”

I desperately want a pair of dachshunds to name “Winner Winner” and “Chicken Dinner.”

I have a set of 3 appy brothers named Zipper, Latch, and Rivet. Their dam was named Snap.

A neighbor of ours has a pair of black Percherons that he uses to log named Turbo and Jet.

Not necessarily pairs, but since I love drafts, I’ve thought about some punny names …

Bonnie Ann Clyde(sdsale)
Over Draft
Rough Draft
First Draft

oh, somewhere I have a collection of more …

I have two mares who are full sisters. Their barn names are Sneakers and Tennie (short for Tennis Shoes)
