PanAm Games 2023

Just thought I would start a thread for this year’s PanAm games. The first jog happened this morning, and all the US horses passed. From the pictures I have seen on social media, all the women on the team looked fabulous. Guessing there was a sponsor for the outfits but don’t know who it was.

Good luck to the Canadians in their quest to secure Paris qualification!

Looks like a beautiful and tough course. Things look to get serious right away at fence 3.

where can we get a link to the cc course?

The PanAm course and Pau are both on the cross country app. Maybe this link will work:

That looks like an interesting course, beautifully presented.

ETA Designed by Pierre Le Groupil, former 5* rider and the man designing the 2024 Paris Olympics course. Good practice.

I saw on an Instagram post that Team Canada’s outfits are designed by lululemon this year.

cbc.ca is streaming some coverage of every sport, on four separate online streams.

Eventing dressage is on the list for today. I am hopeful that there will be more than cursory coverage.

I just started watching - it appears Sharon White really threw it down for the first dressage ride of the day.

ETA: But Colleen Loach almost caught her!

And I hope Diego Zurita’s big ole horse likes hunting flags on xc because he doesn’t like dressage.

Top 4 aren’t surprising so far (2 Americans, 2 Canadians) halfway through. It’s nice to see Ruy Fonseca’s name again. I feel like I haven’t seen it in awhile.

Re Ruy Fonseca has a very nice horse that he’s had for a couple of years. He’s very opinionated but when he’s on he’s unbeatable. Hoping for a good result for them this week.

I discovered that the CMH stream is free if you’re on a desktop or laptop, if you don’t mind watching the small screen.

Does the rule that prohibits three members from the same country/team from being on the podium still exist? It only applied to the Pan Ams I think, but cost the US a medal one time, I think it was the year Mike Huber won gold.

I don’t know. I was wondering after reading some things from the dressage world where I could find the rules for the pan ams. Also how the tickets to the olympics work. I know the top placed team in eventing (who is not already qualified) gets a ticket for the nation, but it looked like in dressage (and other sports - saw it in boxing…) they gave tickets to individuals for paris. How is it decided who gets those?
