lovely photos! thank you. I tried to comment there but was told I needed to log in. I am already logged in.

Great photos. Is it just my eyes or do three of the four US horses look small in the photos? Tseterleg, Mai Baum and Starr Witness all look to be 16h or less. And RF Cool Play must be small, given what Symanski has been quoted as saying about him.

Just saw pics from the jog, thanks Chronicle!!

Anyone have insight into what sort of shoeing is going on with Mai Baum’s fronts? Looks like heavy duty glue on’s or something halfway up the hoof wall.

Did anyone else notice the wear/growth lines in Mai Baum’s hooves?

Both Doug and Boyd are tall, particularly Doug. Tseterleg is definitely smaller (16.1h i think) and made to look even smaller by Boyd’s height. I’m pretty sure Star Witness is 17h+, but Doug is somewhere in the 6’3"range. Not sure about Mai Baum.

ETA: Looking at the team photo here (https://www.chronofhorse.com/article/uber-disasters-boxing-matches-and-cross-country-walks-how-the-u-s-pan-am-eventing-team-is-preparing-for-the-competition), I’d say we just happened to send some tall riders ex Lynn.

Those Chilean horses sure are wound up.

Mai Baum is not a small horse as far as I know. I think that we just have some tall riders. Tsetserleg is 16h, DP is tall. TS is tall too, I think.

I also was curious, what is going on on MB/Lexus’ hooves. At first I thought one of those quarter-grab boots that some race horses have, but I think another poster might be right as they look more like glue ons… Lexus has not had an easy road and has had at least two tendon injuries as far as I know. The shoes may be in relation to that, to help? Anyone in the know? I’m thrilled to see him back in top shape, I really liked him.

I would like to see how that first water is jumped. It looks like you can be brave, (reckless?) and go right over the jump, or more careful and circle around it.
Great photos! Thanks, COTH!

Just saw the first fence by fence course photo preview that has come my way - here’s a link to FB, and the post is public so hopefully the link will work:

Lots of very unusual vegetation used as the decoration - the fences have a very different look from what similar construction would look like in North America - I hope all the NA horses are brave!

Main Baum looks to be wearing a type of cuff glue-on shoe, like Sigafoos.

Which pictures are you looking at? Every picture I see has his feet cut of .

The jumps are all super cool looking! Love the log at fence 8, so pretty.
A few random thoughts: Dana Cook’s horse has super cool coloring and I liked seeing one of the Argentinian riders wearing a helmet in the jog. Don’t love the wide patent noseband on FE Golden Eye (Colleen Loach) - it feels overwhelming? But I’ve only seen it in photos. Never realized how far down Coolio’s white on his face went, but it’s so cute!

Weather looks like it should be great the next few days!

I love the course, it has a real jungle/rainforest feel to it. Really wish it was being live-streamed somewhere. Hopefully there will be video after.
