i have recently put on a good amount of weight (size 6/8 pants to size 10/12) and hate the way my butt and thighs “jiggle in my tack. i sometimes ride in breeches, sometimes in jeans… i was thinking of getting compression shorts to “tighten” things up… anyone done that? or any good pant recommendation??
Ovation has the Slim Secret breeches? I am a size 27 but I have liked the higher, structured waist band that makes you feel nice and sleek.
Are you looking for riding pants or streetwear? I live in Lysse leggings all fall and winter and I suppose they could be used for riding. They have a wide panel waistband and are of a stretch twill fabric that is awesome at holding you in without feeling constricting. You feel so tight and firm but so comfortable. I buy them at Bloomingdale’s but they have a website Lysse.com.
They also have a denim fabric too.
I am a size 16. If you are looking for breeches I would recommend the following. I will put what size I wear so you can guesstimate your size;
Tailored Sportsman mid rise (36) *truly my fave
Hadley by Smartpak (38) *very curvy cut
Ovation Taylored (36) *I have big calves and they cut in a bit at the calf seam
I personally prefer mid rise with a thick waist band with a big belt. As for jeans, I really like American Eagle’s new curvy line. The hi rise jeggings have a lot of stretch but still give a lot of support. I wear a 16 but am on the line for 14. Usually wear a size 18 in their regular line. Beware; their “highest rise” and “super hi rise” are truly HIGH.
Tan breeches show every dimple and line. I know it’s easier said than done, but please realize there is a lot of size focus in the horse world like in dance or gymnastics. I would love to be a size 10/12 again. Every body jiggles and moves and has imperfections.
