Does anyone know where the parking that is $20/day at the park is? IS the entrance on Iron Works?
Yes, parking access is from Iron Works, same side of the road as KHP.
I’ve heard it’s a 1.8 mile walk from parking area to USEF building - which is at the outer edge of the Park. I’m thinking a pair of crutches would be good investment - to qualify for a ride on the handicap shuttle from the parking area. lol!
What would eb agood time to get there if you have a class to see starting at 10 am?
The parking is about .8 miles from the entrance to the HP not that far. Like any other major sporting event, your going to have to walk…wear comfy shoes is a given.
To the poster that made the comment about the crutches. If people like you use up the handicap services then people that have a difficult time walking or cannot walk will end of having to walk because your using the handicap service. Don’t be rude. Buck up its a major sporting event…did you expect parking with a red carpet just for you?
We actually bought the preferred parking for 10/1 becuase our class starts at 7pm and that is our day to shop…I hope the weather is good…I thought about strapping my bike to the roof!

Oh for god’s sake - lighten up. It was a joke.
I heard 1.8 miles from an employee of USEF who actually walked it.
Would it be better to try and find one of the free lots and take a shuttle? Where do they drop you off?

As someone that spent several months on crutches and had this happen to me where I needed to walk the distance when someone else used the handicap assistance…it wasn’t a joke to me.
I like to joke as much as the next person. But making comments to abuse the handicap assistance isn’t funny.
Well the volunteers have heard it straight from the director of parking that in the general lot it is .8 possibly a little more depends where you are parked to the the entrance of WEG.
I guess that’s why you’re a tad over-sensitive?
I’ll have horses at the Equine Village for a total of 12 days. Which means I’ll be hoofin it back and forth from the parking lot several times a day. Jokes are better than complaining when there is already plenty of negativity surrounding WEG. I’ve hardly disparaged or abused handicap assistance. Good lord.

Free lot? Shuttle? Nope. You can park at the downtown parking lot (fee) and take the bus. Don’t know how that’s going to work out, though.

And remember, once you enter the horsepark with your ticket, if you leave to go back to the parking lot, you can not get back in! You’re captive for the day.
There is no public drop off. Only drop off is when patrons use limo’s or taxi’s then there is a drop off area. If your not too far away I would maybe take a bike from coldstream after you park there.
Or park there and call a cab
If you have horses and are “staff”, wouldn’t you have parking by the back barns?
If you are an exhibitor? Yes there would be parking near the barns-but maybe not so close as you might think.
If you are paid USEF or other office staff? Nope. Although they have softened on the “don’t bring your car to work” stance due to the smaller crowds now expected during office hours, they won’t be parking in their usual right near the door spots.
The security will be pretty tight and vehicles kept to a bare minimum.
Thank you, Simply Sweet 1021

Oh my god. Please re-read for comprehension.

No. Aside from unloading/loading horses, exhibitors at Equine Village are parking in designated section in the Spycoast Parking lot.
Where is the prepaid parking? We have that for one day…So to get to this lot, do I go past the KHP coming from Georgetown or before that? I am just trying to get my directions straight…
Have they made the jump for Teddy?
Thanks,
It appears that the bus from downtown Lexington to WEG does make a few stops along the way. One of them is about two miles from our hotel. I am wondering if it might be worth it to walk to the bus, or take a city bus and transfer?

Thank you for feeling the same way on this. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one that took the comments about abusing the handicap system the way they were written & not as a joke which the OP keeps trying to state. The comments about it being a joke came after I called you out on the rudeness of your “joke.” Which makes me assume that you didn’t think someone would call you out.
Look, it was a joke. It was funny to some of us (me), it’s not funny to you. Who really cares either way? Cry a river, build a bridge (preferably closer to the horse park) and get over it… Or better yet, reserve your displeasure for somebody who actually violates the rights of the handicapped as opposed to someone who just violates a few internet 1’s and 0’s.
