Is there a way to resell your tickets?
I just had a TIEC representative tell me that the Steeplechase parking can accommodate 10,000 cars. This is a substantially different number than the 5,000 Iāve heard. Does this sound correct?
I did that at KHP WEG and it was fabulous. No traffic getting in or out, just had to watch for raccoons on the way back to my hotel on the Lexington Trail lol More than once made it back to my hotel when my friends were still waiting to get out of the parking lotl
can more people email them about the ridiculous security stuff. I always carry a pack pack as I have issues with pocketbooks on one shoulder. They are saying you cannot carry a bag? or water. On xc day there is normally no break so how do you eat and hydrate? At KHP in 2010 a horse collapsed from the heat let a lone spectatorsā¦
They have revised their position. You may carry one sealed bottle of water, and one non-glass reusable bottle for refilling. You may carry any bag, clear or not, but if is not clear, you will have to go through a different line to be searched. Check it out on their website or facebook page.
Looks like bags have to be clear unless they are below a certain size.
Read it again. Bags over 6x6x6 need to be clear or will be subject to security search and tagged. On their facebook page, they said this means you would go through a different, slower line to be checked before entry.
Maybe parking wonāt be as bad as everyone thinks. See this link from a Greenville, SC news station (fyi Greenville is about an hour from Tryon).
If law enforcement is being told to reduce staff numbers, it must be that there wonāt be as many spectators as anticipated, so hopefully that means there should be enough parking. Hopefully the anticipated traffic jams may not be as bad as feared.

Personally, I donāt find that encouraging at all. I would guess that they are running on fumes and are cutting back to the absolute minimum number of law enforcement to reallocate that $200,000 towards overtime for construction or some other project running behind.
That sounds like a recipe for disaster. Especially in the long run.
About ten years ago OKC became a mecca for horse and livestock show thefts after one big show significantly decreased security. It took two years to break the cycle of thefts.
I am so disappointed to read these threads. I havenāt been to Tryon since we lived in Clemson. I so wish they could have it together for this.
The graphic of what to bring/what not to bring says clear bags that are 12" x 6" x 12". In the text below where it talks about being subject to a security search, it does not specify a size for the bags. I wonder if that means clear bags bigger than 12x6x12 will also be searched in the separate line?
The graphic is outdated. They have released new requirements. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2123496391205145&id=1802440079977446
Me, too. The only way I see the parking not being a disaster on busy days is with a huge amount of law enforcement for traffic control on the roads leading in.
Not for nothing - I have heard from a source that I trust (but will not name) that tons of it is still under construction - including lodging.
The pools of money for construction and law enforcement are completely separate. A grant from the state, with disbursement controlled by our local county, is paying for law enforcement and emergency personnel. The owners of TIEC are paying for construction. Thatās said, we are a rural county of two lane roads, so delays would not be unexpected even with a herd of troopers.
The graphic Iām referencing is currently still up on their website. It lists sealed water bottles, empty water bottles & lawn chairs as allowed. Itās not the first one from the first email which said no water, food, beach balls etc.
Yes, it is $20 a day to park at the only shuttle bus lot.
This story is from an interview yesterday with NCDOT. Route to WEG parking lot explained.

Iāve heard this as well, from trustworthy sources.
