Parks for Trailriding around Elma/Marilla/Orchard Park NY?

Hey COTHers

Just wondering if anyone could recommend some parks for trailriding around Elma/Marilla/Orchard Park NY or around that area.

Also, if anyone goes regularly on the weekends I’d be happy to meet people, and even bring an extra horse (grandma quiet) for a horse-less friend.

Hey there!

I grew up in Marilla!!

That said, I now live in Cattaraugus County so we do most of our serious conditioning at Allegany State Park (which would likely be a good one and a half hour plus haul for you).

The two places I would recommend will require a little bit of research on your part but it’s where I would start:

One is Hunters’ Creek Park in South Wales.

The other is Knox Farm in East Aurora, NY, which is now owned by the State, and I’m unsure of the need for a permit or their hours for trail riding.

You might want to see if you can find the Aurora Trail Riders if they still exist. Years ago, when I had my horse boarded in South Wales, I used to ride with “the ladies” quite a bit and it sounds like they’d be right up your alley for location and fun.

There is also the Genesee Forest on Genesee Road in Sardinia.
