Loose horse running wrong way, caught by outriders who had to ride directly into the oncoming field, which thankfully was pulling up.

I was watching this race on tv when it happened, and it was so crazy.

It was a weird day for racing in general. There was also a race at Woodbine declared no contest after a horse went off stride shortly after the start and then went down on the track right at the wire the first time past it. I think it was the fourth? No idea what happened.

Yikes! :open_mouth:

When there’s a no/non contest call mid-race do the owners get their entry fees back, automatically put in the schedule for a later date or it’s just a wash all around?

Most races don’t have a fee to enter. This one didn’t. There will be other races with these conditions later in the schedule that these same horses can choose to enter.

Wagers are returned to bettors. For the more complicated bets like the pick six, they usually give anyone with a live ticket the whole field.
