Passier Gemini Bridle

Does anyone have the Passier Gemini bridle? If so, how is the quality of leather and craftsmanship? How about sizing…do they seem to run large or small? The Red Mare has an in-between sized head (somewhere between cob and full size). Any other comments? Or, are there other bridles you prefer in the same general price range (~$250-ish)?

Thanks,
Caitlin

I bought this bridle last summer. I think if your horse is a cob size, it runs on the small size. The horse I purchased it for has a large jaw (mandible) and cob size was tight in the nose band. Everything else was fine. I ordered mine from Germany from Devosier (sp?) before the dollar dropped. I have a few Passier bridles and have been happy with the quality of the leather and workmanship.

I have Passier bridles and saddles, and the leather/craftmanship is fantastic.

Could you order it from a place that accepts returns if you need the other size?

I believe Dover has the bridle or at least they did. I ordered mine from Germany because it was cheaper then even after shipping.

I have the Passier Taurus double bridle and I love it. The quality of the leather and the craftsmenship is great. My mare is also between a cob and horse size but I went with a cob. Her head is wide but not long and so I had to have the strap for the curb bit trimmed down but other than that the bridle fit great.

Thanks guys. Smart Pak also carries the bridle, and the shipping is a whole lot better than Dover.

I was mainly worried about the leather quality…I have paid $$ for bridles before and been disappointed.

As far as head size, she is currently wearing a cob size, and it fits for the most part, just looks a little small in some places (like the browband, and the caveson is on the last hole). If the bridle tends to run small (I think this is what some of you are saying?), I might order the full size. If it’s too big, I can always exchange.

Thanks,
Caitlin

If a browband runs small, sounds like the perfect time to buy some bling;)

Just bought the Aries (same as the Gemini but with a plain browband) and love it. Check 123tack.com, their prices were amazing!

I bought this bridle as a show bridle and was pretty disappointed in the quality. It’s pretty beat up after only being used one season…just at shows! The leather really isn’t that great. And I found the throatlatch to be rather large and the caveson rather small. JMO.

Go to Passier homepage and check them out www.passier.de
it is important to know that the mentioned briddles are their newer cheaper line that they offer since a few years only. They are imported and not German made. But still very very good quality. Their Exclusive line is really something and the quality and how they are made is amazing. my drema is still a double bridde with that is “round sewn” (no idea what that is in english).

If you have older Passier briddles they must have been more expansive and are of german leather and craftmenship. Passier stuff last ages. I had a brdle for 20 years. The quality was still very good, but my horse broke it when fiddling around being tied in the barn…(it hooked behind something and pulled…)
I have two saddles by them. An all pupose one from 1984 and a jumping saddle even older - from 1979. Both still in great shape. The older one just got a new stuffing and was adjusted to my mare (there is a metal piece in them to allow adjustment to any horse).

With the exclusive briddle line you can get the bridle so to say custom made. You can measure everything and they make it exactly the way you want it. Not more fitting prombles if you have a horse that has not the average head. For average horses I had never any problem with any Passier briddle before.

Passier is just around the corner from me.

I have one two. My only complaint is that the reins are horribly short.

It’s called “rolled”. I really like rolled bridles.

I don’t have that issue since my mare is only 15.2

I’ve had the Leo, which is similar but has a removable flash attachment, for over a year and use it for both show and everyday. It’s worn well so far. I bought a separate plain browband and only use the bling browband for shows. I bought the full size for my 15.2 TB and had to punch a few extra holes in it–should have bought cob, I think.

I just recieved my Aries two days ago and it is BEAUTIFUL- nice leather, nice stitching, nice padding, nice everything! I highly recomend it! The horse size fits my guy (17hh Hano) like it was made for him- everything on the middle hole.

I have the Berlin (rolled snaffle) and the Boston (rolled double). Totally love them, cob size fits comfortably on my 15h2 TB with holes to spare.

I think they run slightly large, maybe you can take measurements off a bridle that fits your in-between-size horse and call into the dealer for some help…
