Passier shaped girth?

Has anybody tried one? Feedback appreciated!

Husband, plus large, flat saddle, plus round horse wither-challenged horse = need extra lateral stabilization when somebody forgets to check his girth.

Mohair only works till it starts stretching …

If you want to try something similarly shaped for less $$ to see how it works, I use this girth: http://www.amazon.com/Ovation-Airform-Monoflap-Girth/dp/B00K7LCN66 on my monoflap CC saddle. Works like a charm.

Can you please tell me how wide the wide part on this one is? Thanks!

I sure can! Just got back from the barn but will be there again tomorrow and will happily measure

Had great reviews and a great price

Width across the widest part is 6"

Thanks,Kashmere! Doesn’t look all that wide in the pics!

No problem :). It’s been a really great girth for my very very very sensitive mare, and being able to just sponge it off to clean is a huge bonus!

I had that Passier girth for awhile for a mutton-withered, round mare. No problems with saddle slippage, but I have a serge-paneled saddle and I think that helps a lot with the slippage. I’m not convinced that it would do much for lateral stability; I liked the width of it more for distributing pressure across the sternum. FWIW, it is a fairly stiff girth. Might try a Le Tixerant in your situation, or even an all-elastic girth with a sleeve of non-slip neoprene and maybe a no-slip pad, since it seems like you’re trying to create traction.

Outer banks, it’s sort of making traction, but more the saddler saying that the horse could really use something wide on the bottom to kind of counter the size of the saddle and the husband. Or maybe that’s the same thing…

I mentioned the Tix to the saddle maker and he kind of made a face…I’d try it anyhow, but we have a mono flap w/ LOONNGG flaps and only room for a 24’ girth. I keep hearing that you have to buy those really small 'cause of the stretch, and wasn’t sure if the buckles would be in the right place or right at the horse’s elbow…
