Patchwork Saddlery

Just a PSA…

A friend of mine bought a saddle through Patchwork Saddlery back in August. She has not received her saddle that was supposedly in stock, nor has she been refunded her money that has been promised to her multiple times. Heidi has made herself nearly impossible to reach (while still regularly updating her business Facebook page) and has come up with every excuse under sun. She has also said the money is on its way several times and it has never arrived.

If you can avoid it, don’t do business with her.

I’ve heard really bad things about them too. Similar situation, taking money from a client for a saddle that was supposedly available then cashing the check and disappearing without providing the saddle to the client. Promises promises promises to return them money but never does. Definitely avoid this business!

I am always shocked by these situations. How does one (general) think they can get away with stuff like this?

Is this the Patchwork Saddlery based out of Avon, NY? If so…I have a customer with a different but equally as frustrating experience.

yes, same patchwork saddlery. She is also very active on Facebook and will delete comments from and boot people from her page that say less than satisfactory things. She’s also made it so you can’t leave a review.

Looks like its the same one.

My friend whose money she stole is a single mom of 3 kids, doing her best to make horses accessible for her eldest. That woman has no shame!

This seems like it is worth taking her to small claims court for. Might not get the money but you will have a judgement that is good proof of the whole situation.

OP I hope your friend paid with a credit card and that she can still dispute the charge after all this time.

Sadly, nothing people do anymore surprises me, there are a lot of miserable and dishonest people out there, especially in the horse business and related industries.

Unfortunately my friend didn’t pay with a credit card. She paid by check. She was promised that a payment was in the mail this week and per the USPS receipt she was sent a picture of, the money was supposed to arrive today. She will be seeking legal action.

Did her payment arrive?
I hope so!

Her payment arrived a day later than expected, but it did come. I haven’t heard from her that it did not clear her bank account, so that is good news. I am very glad she finally got her money back, but it shouldn’t have taken 3 months, nor should it have taken threatening legal action. I’d still steer clear of this business.

A friend of mine had a similar experience. Ordered a new saddle through Heidi. She confirmed that the saddle was delivered to Heidi by the manufacturer and tried to arrange for Heidi to come out to fit it. Heidi gave every excuse in the books for why she couldn’t do it in a timely manner. My friend finally asked if she could just drive out to Avon and pick up the saddle (that was already paid for in full). Heidi wouldn’t allow it. My friend threatened to take her to court and finally 2 months after delivery, Heidi brought the saddle and fitted it.

Needless to say no one in our barn will be using her again. We’ve collectively heard enough horror stories about her on top of witnessing her handling of the situation with our fellow boarder first hand.

Same with our barn, we have had a few yikes stories and I’ve heard so many others having trouble, including myself. I was trying to get her to repair my saddle for over a year, hassling her via text to get a price quote and a timeframe for repair, but she never answered, and by the time she said she was ready, I ultimately went with another fitter and I’m SO glad I did.
