Hello, Has anyone given Pau D’ Arco to a healthy dog to treat or prevent seasonal yeast infections in the ears? Our groomer mentioned it but had no idea about a dosage, or possible contraindications.
She is on a low starch, low sugar diet that agrees with her and we have started Benedryl to dry up the inside of her ears, but in late winter, early spring the yeast issue crops up, it always seems to start close to Ground Hog Day. So far it only affects her ears, her skin is not involved and her hair coat is soft and shiny.
She is a mixed breed, and has normal bent tip type ears, not heavily flapped spaniel or hound type ears. She is 50ish lbs but should be 45, and she is spayed.
Any info on the above herb (or other effective treatments) will be appreciated!
