My gelding paws when he is fed. Toss hay on the ground and he paws in it. Put feed in a raised bucket he will paw under it, or if able, hit the bottom with his knee and bounce feed up all over his face. If feed pan on ground he paws beside the pan, sometimes tipping it. He was doing this when I bought him as a 3 year old. He is now 12. I kept a rubber stall mat under his feed bucket.
Occasionally if he is standing tied and being ignored he will start to paw, or just raise his leg and shake it around. But if I say his name sharply he stops, or if i make a ‘mean’ face at him:lol: pretend im pinning my ears and glare. Because he knows better.
