PBS TV show, Saddle Up, Dennis Brouse

I just saw this show for the first time today. Dennis is a trainer and he
visits local areas for historical interest, and does a horse training as well.

Dennis (looks like Jim Balushi, to me) is trail riding oriented. His training
was very good to watch, not too much talk, but still well explained.

5 out of 5 from this newbie.

Every episode deals with a different training issue but always starts with how to establish leadership. These are real people, with real horses who have real problems. In addition to the training, there are segments about the various equestrian disciplines.
The show started airing two years ago so it’s off air already in lots of TV markets. If you would like to see it, or have them repeat it, contact your local PBS station and ask for it.
Here’s the website for the show: http://www.saddleupwithdennisbrouse.com/

I love this show!
The combination of training, historical sites and equine activities (ok disciplines) make this a fun show for anyone interested in horses. I first saw vaulting on this show and am a converted fan!

As for Dennis himself, he can get grating with his “kewl” expressions and he obviously thinks highly of himself. But his training techniques are simple, no nonsense and effective.

He earns my respect for not trying to employ “Special Dennis Brouse (grocery bag) Training Stick” garbage like some pro trainers.

I especially like the notation, “actual ring time 25 minutes” letting us know the segment is edited for time. Not magic like it appears on TV.

My PBS station discontinued this show and now I’m sorry I didn’t record it.
