Pedigree Help on Giacomo offspring

Was wondering if anyone could help me out and give me some more info on my horse’s pedigree! All I really know is that he was Giacomo’s first crop and he didn’t race very well. I’m curious if there are certain traits or things common from his breeding. Training him for eventing now, would love to hear any thoughts!

Thanks for any help!

Fappiano is popular as a jumping sire and I have known several people who are fond of Cryptoclearance because they seem to get good brains. I don’t mind the Mr. Prospector as long as he doesn’t have 3 or more crosses.

Your horse has a clever name, a play on the fact that Giacomo was named for Sting’s son.

That is great on the jumping side! I actually found out about the sting relationship when i got him! It is clever! And giacomo (in italian i think) also translates to james!

I have a 20 yr old gelding by Great Above who I evented up to intermediate. I know GA produced some good steeple chasers and my guy could jump a house!! But he was an absolute nut case much of the time–VERY difficult. Never ever settled down in dressage and was terrible in the warm-up areas. He got better and better behaved the older he got. I can put almost anyone on him now and he is very good. He is very sweet and I love him and would never part with him.

Your guy sounds super!

Sting had a song called, “Set Them Free.”

Giacomo has a wonderful personality. We met him before Breeders’ Cup last year, and he was laid back and very sweet. I don’t have any experience with his offspring, but if his babies have his personality, they would have to be delightful to be around:yes:

This blog has lots of info on Giacomo’s run for the roses, his pedigree, and a video from 2009 at Adena Springs.

I visited Giacomo at Adena Springs a couple of years ago. I agree that he was very sweet. He came up to the fence to say hello and be petted. He was also quite handsome.

a play on the fact that Giacomo was named for Sting’s son.

Sting’s son is named Joe, though. ?

Different son. The one named Giacamo goes by Jack, I think.

Nice article on Giacomo, who will be standing in CA this season:

“He’s great with people. We show him in the walking ring and he stands and poses. People get their picture taken with him. Everybody wants to pet a Kentucky Derby winner.”

From a technical point of view, Hudson said that Giacomo’s bloodlines – Holy Bull out of Set Them Free, by Stop the Music – should appeal to breeders whose mares have Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector pedigrees.

“He’s a total outcross,” Hudson said. "He’s a good grade on the nicking pattern.

“He’s unbelievably put together. Out in the pasture, running around on his own, when he’s trotting, he looks like an upper level dressage horse.”

I saw him run

Sadly, it was in the Donn Handicap where he was pulled up. We did see Cigar win that race. I think it was the fourth race in a row for him at that time. There was definate Holy Bull fever. I have the tshirt I got that day still. somewhere.
