I’ve never been interested in bloodlines and/or pedigrees, so am totally clueless on my current mare’s lines. She’s has some big names waaaay back that I recognize but was wondering if the knowledgeable folks of COTH could help me decipher them? (my work computer will not let me use the enter key on the forums…grrr) Here’s her pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ima+foxie+sister Thank you!
Special Effort was a well-known QH racer as was Dash For Cash. Quincy Dan was a relatively well-known sire of all-around horses on the West coast. I don’t see anything else on there, but I’m not familiar with Paint bloodlines.
I like most of the horses there.
They are more the bigger, more TB type, for racing and barrel racing and some on the top show lines.
We ran against some of those, but I am not sure those lines today, mixed like that, would be what buyers that look at pedigrees are after, if you bought her for a broodmare, especially without any color herself.
That means you may want to prove her, find what she is good doing and get some performance record for her.
Being a paint and no color, it would be harder to say much where she may fit, looking at the pedigree only, not seeing her in person.
Thanks guys. It seems her breeding is all over the board, nothing really discipline specific. So, I will continue into making her a good, all-round, jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none riding horse. Bluey, she has excellent conformation and looks to boot. She was used as a broody by previous owners, but that’s not something that’s going to happen in the foreseeable future, as I’m not into the breeding thing. Thanks again guys!
