Pedigree Info on my new OTTB :)

Wondering if anyone can tell me more about this guy. I just bought him to be a resale project down the road (if I don’t fall in love first lol). He is about 16 hands tall and built like a QH, my farrier actually thought he was one at first. Good sized feet, very sweet and fun under saddle and a beautiful grey-roan color. His name is Heavenly’n Charm, gelding, 2011 model. Only raced once - too slow and didn’t want to run per owner.

The ARG side of his pedigree is curious and fascinating… Jerry Honor is one of the only modern TBs I’ve seen with linebreeding to Son-In-Law within the first page…

I don’t know anything about ARG racing stallions. I leafed through some of the names and the ARG side has no American influence… No Mr P, no Northern Dancer, nothing… Not a single American ancestor in Payalon’s pedigree, which was interesting to look through. The only name I recognized on the ARG side was Congreve, who is one of the few tail-male to ROCKSAND stallions still extant in pedigrees today. Rock Sand is seen consistently in staying blood and event horses.

Your gelding’s sire side is nice, Silver Buck is one of Buckpasser’s better sons for sport. Good bodies and brains IME. Usually average (but not bad) movers. Incredible athletes from a jumping standpoint, usually they were XC machines. Preachinatthebar has an okay pedigree for sport, not much there that makes me scream anything but “Race horse!” - some contingents like Deputy Minister and if I had to have him in a pedigree it would be through Silver Deputy because just my experience he tended to put out a lot of consistent runners, most notably for sport (IMHO) would be Posse, who has lots of horses around here who are just nicely packaged and decent moving horses. I am not a huge fan of DM personally, but a lot of posters here have decent horses that have him in a pedigree… I just don’t think he’s a strong bid for UL horses from what I’ve seen they are too dirt-designed, big sloping shoulder low set neck, huge HQ but not naturally uphill movers.

Not surprising he is “qh” in type… very much the top side of the pedigree, DM and his progeny could practically pass as a QH himself and Buckpasser is a bone contributor. Silver Buck was a very nicely put together horse, not super rangy, with good substance to him.

thanks! Interesting information  He has been a lot of fun so far, I’m not planning anything to big for him. I just want to figure out what he likes and is good out then point him towards a home in that direction.
I just was in KY and toured some of the TB farms and now I know a lot more “names” than I did before.

Junior Time’s dam has Timor as grandsire, and Olden Times is down there on the bottom. So you have all three of the foundation sires on the first page +1 for the mares. You’ve also got a line to Spectacular Bid which also means Bold Bidder.

There are some damn fine sport horse lines in this horse.

Congratulations!
