Pedometer/horse tracker?

My horse is in a huuuuuge pasture and I’m curious to see how much ground he actually covers on his own. I tried google but couldn’t find anything really. Is there a pedometer you can attach to your horse, or like an app you can track your horse with? TIA!

There are gps collars for dogs that will send a track back to a phone. You could probably figure out a way to rig it to a horse that wouldn’t be dangerous - some of them are a device that slides onto the collar so you could probably slide it onto a turnout halter or a breakaway neck strap. Or add a breakaway leather strap to turn the dog collar into a neck strap.

they have been around for awhile for cattle

Equisense has one that attaches to a girth. Maybe they have extended the product line.

What an interesting question – I hope you get a pedometer and tell us the results. I always feel badly for my SoCal horse where stalling is the norm and turnout is an hour or two at most, but they survive. Once I camped next to horses in a large pasture and my guilt was lessened to see they didn’t choose to move around that much, just from water to feed to shade. But I am curious!
