Any advance thoughts on this? I know a lot of people here love Accelerate, but he just doesn’t excite me for some reason. Never has, and I saw him in person at Oaklawn.
I think City of Light, who beat him that day, seems to be in prime condition. Also Gunnevera, while inconsistent in results, loves this track. I also think Kukulkan would be a neat story if he can pull it off. Kind of Canonero-ish. He seems to be being totally dismissed.
Sentimental thought, but I would sort of like to see Gunnevera win a Grade 1. He works so hard.
Just saw that because of heavy rain, the turf races had to be moved to the dirt. Several scratches, including Stormy Liberal. Too bad.
As of right now, only the undercard turf races have been moved to the main track.
The Pegasus Turf is still posted to run on the turf.
Race 4… Tripwire suffered an apparent cardiac event during the race & had to be euthanized.

Wow! City of light ran away with it! (My heart was on Accelerate or Gunnevera) congratulations to all the onnections! Also glad all came home safe, that rain was scaring me.
Great race by City of Light, and his connections were delighted and delightful. Any insight as to what happened to Patternrecognition? It looked like he hit a wall. I wasn’t sure if he was being pulled up but he kept running, so I guess not.
I was wondering that too. He pulled up, but then kept running. Maybe he just took a bad step and the jockey was being careful? Glad he finished.
Great race by City of Light. I had money of pretty much every other horse. Oh well.
Hope everyone came out of the race well. I’m just glad a certain trainer’s horse finished off the board. I know you shouldn’t hold the connections of a horse against them but it’s really hard for me not to.
I’ve been dismayed to see a certain Gulfstream-based butcher have success after what he has done. I just got in from feeding my horse whose ankle is fused thanks to that man.

My leaning was for Accelerate, but watched the video, CofL looked like he was going easy; Accelerate’s move almost seemed half hearted. Congrats to City of Light and his team

Sure hope so. What was on the video after the race showed him walking OK, did not look catastrophic.

Hope so! Watched the race on video; noticed that about six strides from finish line he switched leads - maybe tweaked something in the process…
I’m going to guess that the trainer to whom you’re referring has horses for an owner whose racing stable name calls to mind said owner’s frat boy nickname? And who consistently runs his horses over their heads?
That’s just sad…
