The one silver lining … this will stop the silly talk of possibly bringing him back after breeding season.
Was that idea seriously floated?
yikes.

I’m hoping/assuming that whichever Taylor brother made a reference to that possibility was joking. Can’t find the quote atm.
RainyDay
I get their names mixed up, but it was the taller gentleman with darker/greyish hair (Duncan?). I saw that interview & thought WHAT!? WHY!? lol
Yes, I think it was Duncan, but I’m not sure either.
Of course there has to be a physical reason why Chrome didn’t run a good race.
Arrogate looked phenomenal. Even without CC, I don’t think there way anyone else in his class. This year will be interesting to see
CC… while I was rooting for Arrogate, I felt bad that the CC we were all expecting to see didn’t bring his A game. In an interview after the race, Baffert said he could tell Espinoza was in trouble going down the back stretch by just looking at body language. Sherman said he didn’t think CC really liked the feel of track although he’s been working over the surface for month so who knows and CC isn’t talking
Advertising… I saw some absolutely, IMO, awful TV ads… The 13th Jockey. Had to have been the dumbest ads I’ve seen in quite some time. If I wasn’t racing savvy I still don’t think they would have made me watch the race.
I caught the comment that CC might make a comeback after the breeding season and that that was also a silly (being polite here) idea. Maybe he’s saying he’s had enough… who knows.
I’ve never seen a horse cover so much ground as beautifully or effortlessly as Arrogate and he did not dissappoint. Freak.
I’ve heard a bone chip and fluid on the knee. Sad end to a great career for Chrome. Honestly, I was too busy watching to see what was wrong with him in the stretch to watch Arrogate.
That being said, I’m looking forward to seeing what Arrogate does in the future. The torch has been passed.
Haven’t been able to watch a replay(that showed a decent view of the start)as of yet, but more than one person has made the comment that CC hit the gate on his way out. Anyone else see that?
No, I think he got away clean, if a touch slow.
I DVRed the race and watched the start a couple of times, including the head on, and didn’t see anything amiss at all with Chrome’s break. The 6 horse kinda ate it, though.
On the facebook video, groom is bathing CC after race; near the end as he sponges off the right front, CC reacts sharply, lifting the leg up and out. Guessing he hit a sore spot?

I have to say, I was surprised how drawn up CC was, prior to the race. I don’t recall him looking quite like that, before. And, I was also concerned about how he was to load into the gate. NOT his usual MO. I do wonder what the deal is, and I hope he is OK!
I don’t know if he could have taken the big grey machine, but regardless, I am sorry to see him lose like this.
Victor had to make a big move to get him to switch onto his right lead coming down the stretch. He should have changed a lot earlier than he did so Victor finally had to force him to change. He may have been hesitant to switch because he was hurting or he may have hurt himself when he switched.
Laurierace, I noticed that too. I keep looking at it and it almost looks like he swaps and then immediately swaps back again but the angle I see it from make it hard to tell. Does anyone else see that or is it me?
Maybe Chrome was hurting before he went into the gate and the race just aggravated whatever was going on.
I’m glad he made it home safe. Still disappointed he didn’t win, but I’d rather have him healthy and safe than to add another $7M to his total earnings. He’s already far surpassed a lot of other great horses.
