Pelleted Insulin Wise

I was just told by my vet that Insulin Wise is now being offered in a pelleted version for those with fussy eaters or ones who only eat dry food.

I saw that too! Mine isn’t picky about it, but the idea of a less messy option is really appealing. I just got a new tub of the powder but have to remember to see if I can shift my next auto ship to the pellets.

Have you looked to see what else is added to the pellets to make them, well, pelleted? I guess it’s safe to assume that given the type of horse getting this product, it shouldn’t be anything unfriendly to the EMS types

This is what’s listed on the website…I’ll have to compare it to the actual ingredients of my powdered tub once it arrives !

Have you seen a significant difference using this? Thank you!

I would expect the ACTIVE ingredients to be the same. It is the “other” ingredients that are probably different.

ETA, I just checked my tub of powdered InsulinWise, and the active ingredients are identical. The INACTIVE ingredients are
Dried yeast fermentation solubles
natural and artificial flavors.

What are the inactive ingredients in the pellet version?

I have several of mine on this, because they have E M,S and or Cushing’s… I can’t say that it makes a significant difference, but giving this along with dietary management has helped bring their insulin numbers down

I personally have two mares who tested in the EMS range who’s insulin, glucose, and leptin levels came down to “high normal” after starting use of InsulinWise. The only issue with saying “it worked” is that I also implemented other changes at the same time, most notably strict grazing muzzle use through the fall. So, I’m sort of in the “doesn’t hurt, might help” camp. My vet has another handful of Morgan clients who have had similar experiences, and she tends to tell people that she has enough anecdotal evidence about improvements that she is comfortable recommending it.

One of mine was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance this spring. Test result was 140
We started out with InsulinWise and ThyroL (phased out over 4 months) and no turn out, gradually increasing turnout with a muzzle and then without a muzzle. Midsummer her reading was 24, and in November it was 30 (below 40 is considered normal). She is now out 24 x 7.

I am expecting that I will have to start restricting her turnout when the spring grass comes in.

Yes, I would say the InsulinWise made a difference.

Thank you to everyone who replied. I think I’ll try it again, now that it is pelleted. I tried it before and had an awful time getting it down. Thank you!!!
