Pembroke Corgi breeder recommendations?

A friend of mine is looking to bring home a Pembroke Corgi next summer, and is researching breeders. She’s going to be looking for a male between 8 weeks and 18 months. She prefers the lighter colors but would be flexible on that for the right dog. The dog would be a pet-only, so mellower lines would be a plus.

Any suggestions from you guys re: really excellent Pembroke breeders to talk to, or bloodlines to look for?

The breeder MUST perform health testing, must have dogs that are “proven” in some sort of competition (conformation or performance). Solid temperament is an absolute must; something like therapy dog certification on either/both parents would be a huge plus.

My friend is located in DC, but is willing to travel to get a puppy. At this point she’s just reaching out to breeders to see who is planning litters and/or who they would recommend reaching out to. Any suggestions for starting points, COTH??

This is one place to start

Kallista in Kentucky and

http://www.siteskins.net/brynleacorgis/ in Ohio are two of many good ones

and yet another is http://www.wendtworthcorgis.com/

After just losing my heart Corgi, Gumby, Nov. 6th,to DM (degenerative mylopathy), almost 13, my most important suggestion is to make sure the breeder only breeds dogs that are free of this heartbreaking disease. Please have your friend research this, and only get a puppy from breeders who have had the parents tested and can certify that the puppy will not get it. Would gladly take a PM from your friend to discuss this.
