A friend recommended PEMF for treating coffin joint arthritis. I’ve read the research in dogs and guinea pigs. Have any of you used this for your arthritic horses hooves?
I’ve never done laser therapy on any of my personal horses.
But PEMF helps my old girl with her coffin joint quite a bit. She has a junky joint from the aftermath of an open articular P3 fracture in conjunction with rupturing the coffin joint. She surprisingly has very little difficulty with it and stays pasture sound with almost no maintenance. When she starts looking sticky, she gets a PEMF session, and that seems to hold her over for months. I don’t think my results are typical; nothing with this particular horse is typical!
I would like to know what others have experienced with their horses, too. Anyone?
Hey do you happen to have any x rays of your mares fracture?
I’m not Texarkana, but here is what I’m currently dealing with (before surgery on top, after below). It’s too early for any joint therapy yet.
The consulting surgeons at two hospitals both said it’s one of the worst they’ve seen but both seemed to think there’s a decent outcome. Time will tell. I’m not particularly optimistic at this point.
Thank you! My gelding just did a pretty bad break in his coffin and I’m looking for some success stories to make me feel better. 1 week of stall rest down 11 to go!
