One of the neighborhood barn cats has a flat ear and is walking out of balance. I have him caught and he has a little bloody seep from the flat ear and eye goobers but no temp, sounds ok, in good weight, in good condition. Eating and drinking fine, can’t find another painful spot on him. If I touch his sore ear he keeps it flat and down, if I touch the good ear he loves it. He’s been around here for several years…looks the same to me except for the ear. His ears are clean, no mites-his bad ear is pure white and I can see bloody seep in the inner ear. Friendly and sweet but he’s out of whack, if he shakes his head he falls over. His pupils are stable and not overly dilated.
Unfortunately he did not pick the right truck to run out in front of because I have no money. We’re in the throes of moving and currently have three households to maintain and I’m already late on a few bills. Broke. The vets wanted to do an exam and run bloodwork, and I just can’t afford to go through that wringer.
I have a bottle of pen aq and a bunch of 18 gauge needles/syringes. And not much else on hand. I can buy something OTC for him.
So can I give him shots of pen and if so, dosage? any other ideas for him?
