I forget what the dog version is called but since I have the horse version that is what I would use anyway if I did try it. I have found references for the dog dosage but it didn’t say what conditions to use it for. Think it is worth a try?
Cartophan
Ok, but does it help with a luxating patella? My guess is it won’t hurt but may not help.
It’s an anti-arthritic agent. Why would it help a luxating patella?
I don’t know. That is why I am asking. I did find some references to it being used after surgery for luxating patellas.
It probably wont hurt. Often times its given after surgery because you are expecting some degree of arthritis to form, especially if its a traumatic luxation compared to congenital reasons. It wont actually help or prevent the patella from luxating.
Its called cartrophen for dogs, but its not quite the same make up as the horse pentosan. I would be careful giving the equine stuff to a dog, make sure its approved with your vet incase there are any adverse reactions.
