What other place sells it without a script ?
Here for one (right from Pentosan.com)

I sent my vet there and he called back saying I didnāt need a script for this site.
I think those sites selling without RX are outside the US, arenāt they? The horsemedsonline.com place has a non US phone number, and HorsePreRace says they are governed by the laws of Panama. So I think that is how they are able to sell without scriptā¦just like some people order prescription meds from India, etc.
The thing that bothers me about HPR is there is no contact info for them on their website, other than an email address. No phone number, no physical address. I did order Pentosan from them; I got it quickly and had no issues with it. But the credit card charge said āPet Foodā or somethingā¦I just found the whole thing bizarre.
I do feel the Pentosan helped my horse though. I would get it from Wedgewood though if my vet would write a scrip.

What a cornucopia of āfeel goodā drugs
This appears to be outside the USA, but you are right - there are apparently companies that will sell anything to you.
They are located in Australia and the Pentosan they sell is the name brand from Nature Vet (Ceva Pharma.). Iāve ordered my horseās Pentosan and it arrives quickly and in the manufacturers packaging.

Oh goodie, on sale for $809!
Did you think brand name price was going to be the same as compounded?
It seems to run about the same per dose as PentAussie here, which seems to pretty much be gone now.
Iāve ordered from the Austrailian website previously. Just not comfortable with compounding pharmacies, but that is just me. Iād rather pay more for brand name in this case.
My Fedex tracking info says the Pentosan that horseprerace.com just shipped me was sent from Florida.

What I thought is irrelevant. What I am willing to pay is relevant. If paying that price were my only option my horse would be going without. Hopefully that doesnāt become the case because he is doing fantastic on it.
Totally understandā¦
It does get frustrating that there donāt seem to be much of a āwarningā when a company is going to be expecting a shortage. Hopefully one of the compounding companies can shed more light on a time frame. There sure are a lot of customers depending on them.
Itās frustrating thatās for sure. Seems like these shortages have been happening more often due to FDA compliance issues. The Llyoyd labs - Thyro-L, xylazine. Now Luitipold and Adequan.
Hi, Iām ISO recent input about Pentosan, PentAussie vs Adequan vs Legend. My horse is in his early to mid-20s, a very sound Arabian. The vet thinks he has some arthritis in a knee and heās shown a bit of pain in a hock. Oral Cosequin didnāt seem to make a noticeable difference, and now heās on equiox/Previcox and has had one dose of IM Legend and two weeks later a shot of Adequan. My farrier says heās seen real improvement in horses on Pentosan, the same horses had not responded after a long course of Adequan. Any input would be great!

Thanks Scribbler, Iām new here so I appreciate the tip
Love Pentosan. Wish it had been around when I was using Adequan (which was OK but 5x the price) on my old creaky event mare. Have never used Legend
